3.00pm Ludlow Tips & Betting Preview 11/10/2017

A good turnout for this handicap chase with some potentially useful performers engaged. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: FOREVER FIELD has been running against some high class performers recently and may find this slightly easier as he has the look of a well handicapped horse and can go in. Ozzy Thomas may provide the main opposition.

1 OZZY THOMAS – Comes here in good form having won two of his last three starts, one of which was over course and distance and he gave a stone to a useful enough rival with the minimum of fuss last time. He might still be underestimated by a mark of 137 and has obvious claims.

2 HEIST – Won well off two pounds lower just four starts ago, but he was a bit disappointing when attempting to follow up and has been over hurdles since. He is a far better horse over a fence, however, and if recapturing the form of his win over the bigger obstacles, he would have a solid enough chance.

3 FOREVER FIELD – Has been running against some very useful rivals such as the now 150 rated Black Corton; he beat him getting weight and that piece of form alone entitles him to respect off a mark of 134. He is potentially nicely treated and should go close.

4 ALWAYS ON THE RUN – A consistent performer who has been placed in seven of his last eight starts over fences. He hasn’t looked much like winning recently though and, in a field with a few unexposed types, he could be vulnerable to an improver.

5 CUT THE CORNER – Won two starts in July but is now a stone higher in the weights than he was before those successes. He looked like a step up in trip would suit just fine when a staying on fifth behind the progressive Golden Birthday and shouldn’t be dismissed here.

6 BELMOUNT – An experienced chaser who has had 21 starts in this discipline and tasted victory on four occasions, including over course and distance. He is up five pounds for winning last time, however, and this will most likely be tougher.

7 MONT ROYALE – Had looked slightly under the grip of the handicapper since going up five pounds for a win at Cartmel in May, but he ran a nice race to finish second last time out. He is not without a chance, however he will probably find one or two too good.

8 EXXARO – Ran a good race when just a couple of lengths behind Paul Nicholls’s winning machine Alcala two starts ago, yet he followed that up with a disappointing performance last time. He gets the services of Bryan Cooper but has something to prove now.

9 SUPER SCORPION – Won twice at Ffos Las, but is up 18 pounds from the mark of 112 he was on in May. He has looked well anchored by two big rises in the handicap in his last two starts and winning off this mark may be slightly outside his capabilities.

10 BRAQUER D’OR – Won twice over fences and, despite two substantial rises in the weights, he has continued to run respectably. He will definitely stay the trip as he was just touched off over two furlongs further earlier in the year and he’ll love the ground; considered.

11 BOB TUCKER – Ran a massive race when just touched off by a stablemate in the Veteran’s Finale at Ascot and a repeat of that would give him a solid each way chance in a race like this. He has to overcome a 144 day absence, however, and is more exposed than most of these.

12 VIKEKHAL – Went up seven pounds for a win at Worcester in August and has looked a bit high in the weights ever since. He has dropped back down the handicap by four pounds, however he will need to improve to win off this mark and others are more appealing.

13 BY THE BOARDWALK – Hasn’t won since 2015 and, despite a long losing streak, he remains three pounds above his last winning mark. He looks exposed and this isn’t an easy race by any stretch of the imagination – opposable, especially off a break.
