3.00pm Catterick Tips & Betting Preview 30/11/2016

Although only a 5 runner race, it could push out a potentially decent novice chaser. See our betting tips and the full race preview below.

IN SUMMARY: This race may well revolve around two runners, the first of which being Laissez Dire who is a very interesting contender for Alan King, being a French recruit and no form to really judge him on but surely he has to have a chance. However, better things can be expected of WORK IN PROGRESS now he goes chasing, the manner in which he made all at Fakenham back in February was most impressive and he didn’t disgrace himself when trying to make all in the Martin Pipe at The Festival. He should make a better chaser and is touted to make a winning chase debut for the Skeltons.

2 JOVIAL JOEY – Very mediocre hurdler whose best effort was a 2nd in a Novices Hurdle at Cartmel in May (2m6f, Good). Hard to see how he can get involved in a much harder race than he’s use to on Chase debut.

3 LYVIUS – Classy hurdler who was 2nd in a Grade 2 at Ascot in January (2m3f, Soft), and 12th in the 2015 renewal of the Coral Cup (2m5f, Good). Hasn’t run since April 2015 and this is a hard race to make a return in but on his peak hurdles form he’d have a chance, so place claims if returning with zest.

4 MIAMI PRESENT – In the context of this field, a mediocre hurdler who’s latest 2nd at Fakenham (2m4f, Good) is nowhere near the standard required to get involved here today.

5 WORK IN PROGRESS – Pretty classy lightly raced hurdler whose best effort came when making all to dismiss a Class 3 field at Fakenham with contempt, winning by 31 lengths heavily eased (2m4f, Good to Soft). Then went to The Festival when trying to make all again in the Martin Pipe and ran with credit before fading up the hill into 8th place (2m4f, Good). Should make a better chaser and will improve for the disappointing reappearance at Ayr last month (2m, Good to Soft), huge chance.

6 LAISSEZ DIRE – Hard to assess as all his form is in France, with his latest run when well beaten in a Grade 3 back in March (2m2f, Very Soft). Now with Alan King and JP McManus, with Barry Geraghty taking the ride, which makes him a very interesting runner. The King yard is in great form, as is Geraghty so has to be treated with a huge amount of respect, interesting.

myracing Forecast Prices: 10/11 Laissez Dire, 11/10 Work In Progress 4/1 Lyvius, 16/1 Miami Present, 25/1 Jovial Joey
