A staying handicap chase for a prize of £6,498. Read on for expert analysis and betting tips.
IN SUMMARY: Orbasa put an end to his losing streak in no uncertain terms when bolting up on his last start and looks sure to go well again but SUPER SCORPION won two in a row with the minimum of fuss earlier in the season and if rediscovering that form can go well.
1 MARCILHAS – Bolted up two starts ago in a Ludlow handicap but was pulled up on his last racecourse appearance when trying to shrug off a ten pound rise in the handicap, remains with some potential but might want the ground softer.
2 CUT THE CORNER – Hasn’t really run a bad race since joining the Alastair Ralph yard and again turned in a creditable effort when second to the highly regarded Starchitect last time out, still has some room for improvement and considered.
3 STILL BELIEVING – Won his last two starts over hurdles including once at this venue, returns to chasing on the same mark as over timber and given the great form he is in he must be on any shortlist; interesting.
4 ORBASA – Had began to look a shade disappointing having looked very hard to win with this year, but tanked through the race last time and extended away in the fashion of a good horse to win by five lengths, has to be considered on the back of that performance.
5 MONBEG CHARMER – Performed well in novice hurdles throughout last season and even ran in a Grade 1 at Aintree when pulled up, disappointed on chase debut but it well treated on hurdles form if that experience has done him some good and should be considered.
6 SUPER SCORPION – Was raised a total of twenty pounds when winning two handicaps at Ffos Llas in succession, has not been as seriously involved in his latest starts but still has plenty of potential and could bounce back to form.
7 MR SHANTU – Has had just two chasing attempts and won on the first, hasn’t been in the best of form over hurdles lately but remains unexposed over the larger obstacles and shouldn’t be completely discounted.
