A small field, but a competitive looking fillies handicap. Read on for expert analysis and tips.
IN SUMMARY: The selection is SPIRIT OF ROSANNA who has run a few big races off similar marks and will appreciate the give underfoot. It may be that Bellevarde gives her the most to think about having only found a quickly progressing rival too good last time out.
1 HER TERMS – Won by a short head last time and has gone up 3lb since, not disgraced off higher marks in the past. The change of stable may have helped her, but she still needs slightly more even on ground she has never encountered.
2 BEAU MISTRAL – Won easily off a mark of 64 two starts ago, but a 5lb rise seemed to stop her in her tracks. She has never won off a mark this high and looks like a horse that can only really capitalise when her mark falls to the low 60s.
3 BELLEVARDE – Bumped into a progressive rival last time but has been running with credit of late and has struck up a good partnership with Josephine Gordon. Only up 1lb for her second last time out and comes here with a fighting chance.
4 BROADHAVEN HONEY – Has beaten just four rivals home in her last five starts and looks hopelessly out of form. She has consequently tumbled down the weights, however, and if recapturing something like the form of her win off 9lb higher she would have a chance.
5 NUZHA – Beaten just a length off a 4lb mark just three starts ago, but both runs since have been well below par. She has never won on ground this soft either and comes here with something to prove.
6 SPIRIT OF ROSANNA – Ran a very good race off 3lb higher not long ago to finish second and clearly likes soft ground having been withdrawn on good or good to firm a number of times. She has also been beaten just a nose off 1lb higher and if putting her best foot forward she must have an exceptional chance.
7 TONI’S A STAR – Just 2lb higher than when winning at Chepstow in July, but has never won in conditions like this. She will need to find improvement that looks unlikely on testing ground.
