IN SUMMARY: One of the races of the day on paper but one than can fall the way of LADY OF LAMANVER who has been well supported already in the early markets and is undoubtedly well handicapped if she is as forward as they say for her seasonal return.
IVOR’S QUEEN – Scooted home last time out at Wincanton when berating Templier by a very easy eleven lengths. Reappears here carrying a seven-pound penalty but was only put up four pounds by the handicapper, but trainer Colin Tizzard appears to want to run her again while in this sort of mood and a big run seems assured.
ROYAL DEBUTANTE – Fell last time out at Kempton when already beaten and going backwards over shorter and over fences but ran well enough in May when second at Southwell to suggest she has another win in her soon enough. Fergus Gregory claims seven pounds off for trainer Paul Webber but she will need to show improvement to win regardless.
KENTFORD HEIRESS – May well find this on the short side for her these days with her better efforts over further but a class act at her peak and not easily dismissed here. Last time out she took her fifth race at Newton Abbot off four pounds lower, and as she likes it here with three wins from seven starts she has to appear on the punter shortlist.
LADY OF LAMANVER – In the capable hands of Harry Fry but not seen on a racecourse since winning at Newbury before being placed second behind Briery Queen in April 2016. Undoubtedly a class act at her best and said to be working well ahead of her return to action, well handicapped on her potential and may prove tough to beat.
POSTBRIDGE – Formerly with Warren Greatrex she has only had the one run for Sarah Humphrey when pulled up at Market Rasen in a novice chase when jumping slowly throughout. Back over hurdles now and may show some improvement but needs to rekindle her old enthusiasm to get involved in the finish.
CASTAFIORE – Formerly trained in France by Andre Fabre on the flat she moved to Charlie Longsdon a year ago and has won one of her seven starts over hurdles. That was over two miles at Ludlow and she faces a very different ask this afternoon on quicker going over an extended trip in first-time cheekpieces and conditions need to bring significant improvement.
LEGEND LADY – Lightly raced for trainer Oliver Sherwood with just the five races, two in bumpers and three over hurdles for two victories. Not seen since November last year when runner-up to Midnight Tour at Hereford and tries this trip for the first time, may well be a lot better in the long run than her current handicap mark.
