The highly regarded Mix And Mingle took this last season for Chris Wall but as a nursery (a handicap for two-year-olds) it will be as difficult to solve as always. After carefully looking through the field we think we have found a spot of value in Karl Burke’s Seduce Me (20/1 Each Way), a daughter of Dutch Art who won her second race in a Ripon maiden and has finished third in a good Conditions Stakes since and more recently fourth in a valuable auction stakes last weekend leading her group home but adrift of the other favoured side of the track. left on the same rating this afternoon she seems to have a far better chance than her prices implies and we are happy to be backing her each way at decent odds.
Generally speaking the purple breds housed in the Sir Michael Stoute stable complete in Group class but he runs Textured (14/1) here off a potentially generous rating of 78 and has quickly snapped up Ryan Moore to do the steering. A daughter of Dark Angel out of a Dubai Destination mare, she was easy to back when sent off at 16/1 on her debut at Kempton before finishing a slowly away ninth beaten ten lengths at the line but showed the benefit of that experience when runner up to Exmouth in a six-furlong Yarmouth maiden, beaten a neck at the line by his better fancied stable companion. If that was all then she would be a strong fancy here but we are sorry to say she has disappointed again since when seventh of nine back at Yarmouth and anyone thinking of backing her needs to take that in to account as we saw no excuses.
With only the one unbeaten filly in the race no race preview would be complete without a mention for the Mick Channon trained Tara Celeb (9/1) who followed a Goodwood maiden win with a Class Five nursery win at Leicester, both over this trip. Both wins were by narrow margins after starting slowly and finishing fast but the beauty of that is that she has only been given a rating of 79 here which may not be an accurate assessment, and with Graham Lee booked in the saddle she may well have a pretty decent each way chance this afternoon though she will need to find a little more off her higher weight.
Some decent Newmarket gallops saw Michael Bell’s Parsnip (9/1) sent off a well backed 15/2 shot on his Chepstow debut where he landed the bets by a pretty comfortable two and three quarter lengths but disappointed connections next time out when sent off the 9/2 favourite in a big field before coming home in eighth at the line beaten six lengths by Rajar in a Newmarket nursery. Given a month off to recover she returned in August at Leicester in a lesser contest when second to Rosebride, though this time at a more generous 7/1. She was giving seven pounds to the winner and was wearing a tongue tie which seemed to bring improvement but this is a much better race and she will need to get back to her best form or more if she wants to get involved this afternoon.
To round things off for now Simon Crisford is a trainer very much on an upward curve and we note he has booked Silvestre de Sousa to ride Muthmira (8/1) here as the daughter of Arcano looks to follow up her maiden success at Yarmouth. Making all the running that day she had a lot more in hand than the official winning margin of a length and a quarter and off a rating of 81 this afternoon she could well turn in to a major player here.
