2.20pm Newmarket tips for Friday’s Class 3 race. Although only five go to post and one is clear on ratings, selecting the winner isn’t going to be that simple in an affair that will be tactical. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: The obvious selection here is SPIRITUAL LADY, who won a course and distance Listed race back in October 2016 and she’s faced two tough tasks on both her starts in 2017. She will find this much easier and James Doyle is up for this run, so her claims are obvious for all to see. The main danger is Rajar, who was a close third off this mark two starts ago and if bouncing back should be finishing second here.

1 SPIRITUAL LADY – Won a Listed race over course and distance in October 2016 for Philip McBride, struggling in two rougher races than this on both her starts this year. This looks a much easier task and now that she’s back to full fitness, she should pass this test with flying colours.

2 OCEAN TEMPTRESS – Arrives here winning four of her last six starts, winning well at Leicester on her latest start. That was in a Class 5 though and at these weights she does look very vulnerable, so is passed over.

3 RAJAR – Finished a good third at Musselburgh on her return before heavy ground was a viable excuse for her latest disappointment at Chester. She should be happier back down in distance and looks a strong contender under Paul Hanagan.

4 CONSEQUENCES – Looked promising when showing progression in his first three starts, soundly beaten at Chantilly in Listed company when last seen but that was after a break. He may have needed that and he remains with potential, so he has obvious claims here.

5 STAR OF SIENA – Showed very little to work with on debut for John Ryan before once again being well beaten at Yarmouth on her latest start. She’s now pitched into a race where she has little chance and handicaps await at longer trips.
