2.15pm Ludlow Tips & Betting Preview 27/11/2017

IN SUMMARY: CHIRICO VALLIS ran up to this rating on a number of occasions when racing in Ireland. He has always looked as if he will be a better horse over fences, making a fluent start to life in this discipline last time. Robinshill made up for a last fence unseat here last time out when winning. The rise in the weights may not be enough to stop him but it certainly makes life more difficult. Mick Thonic has a poor completion rate but he is a smart type when he does get round so makes some each way appeal.

1 ROBINSHILL – Unlucky not to win over course and distance in October when unseating at the last. Made no mistakes on a return visit earlier this month, now six pounds higher. Softer ground is no issue and had placed from two pounds lower over hurdles, big chance.

2 CHIRICO VALLIS – Strong form in Ireland, he didn’t have to reproduce that to win on his UK debut. This opening mark looks fair on his Irish efforts, always promising to do better as a chaser. Conditions no issue for him, looks a big player.

3 TORNADO IN MILAN – Last six wins have all come right handed, including this race from three pounds lower last season. Had the benefit of a prep run in 2016, not seen since a tailed off last at Perth in June. Best watched despite conditions in his favour.

4 PEARLS LEGEND – Not the force of old but still capable of solid form on a going day as when winning in April. A little below that level the twice he has run this season, he needs a little more if he is to be successful from this far up the weights.

5 MICK THONIC – Still tanking when unseating three out over course and distance in October. Jumping again cost him since but a four pound drop from the assessor looks generous. Capable of playing a big part on his day, but five incompletions in his last eleven starts means he can’t be supported with confidence.

6 TRUCKERS HIGHWAY – Dual course winner has his quirks. Has struggled when his mark has gone north of 120 in the past, a bit of a surprise to see him win at Worcester last month given this trip in good ground is sharp enough for him. Others preferred at this level.

7 WALDEN PRINCE – Winless since October 2015, he is seventeen pounds lower now. Sharp track and decent ground suits best so wouldn’t want anymore rain but would have an each way chance if able to reproduce his second at Uttoxeter in September.

8 RIVER PURPLE – Course and distance winner here in April when springing a 33/1 surprise. Would be a bigger once still if he were able to repeat the dose from nine pounds out the handicap.
