IN SUMMARY: DUBHE ran a huge race at Listed level last time, returned to quieter waters now back into handicap company. Algam has to prove his stamina, especially fitted with headgear for the first time but he strikes as the main danger to the selection with smart form already in the book. Regimented will enjoy being back on a sounder surface than when bogged down on heavy when last seen, he can round out the frame places.
VENTURA KNIGHT – Picked up a couple of minor nurseries earlier in the season, but has already had ten races. Struggled in similar company to this since those victories and looks set for another difficult time of things now.
REGIMENTED – Just denied over this course and distance two starts back by the solid yardstick Westerland. Easy to excuse his latest effort on bottomless ground as had stepped forward each time before then. Conditions suit so must have an each way chance.
DUBHE – Very impressive winner at Sandown on his second start, connections pitched him straight into Listed company last time. Stays this trip well and acts with any cut remaining in the ground, back down in class he looks one of the principal players.
ALGAM – A winner over seven furlongs, he produced a career best last time dropped to six. That was at Salisbury on heavy ground so is far from an ordinary six furlongs, but he steps up a quarter of a mile. First time blinkers are fitted now, trying his stiffest stamina test to date.
CHE BELLA – No surprise to see her progress handicapping given the way she travelled through the contest when winning at Thirsk. This is a deeper contest than her most recent run at Catterick so needs a bit more from this new mark.
INTERNATIONAL MAN – Hasn’t gone on since winning on his debut on good to firm ground. Admittedly the last twice have been decent contests and ran well over an extended seven furlongs at Beverley, but still tough to be confident about at this level for now.
CHARACTER WITNESS – Steadily progressive over six furlongs before slightly disappointing stepped up to seven last time on his nursery debut. Perhaps he needed the run after two months off but this mark still looks tough enough on what he has accomplished.
AMAZING MICHELE – Stepped up on her previous form when winning on her mile debut. She never looked happy after being hampered early when last seen. For all that this mark looks fair however, this is a sizeable step up in class for her, best watched.
