9.00pm Chelmsford Tips & Betting Preview 25/07/2017

This is a Class 4 handicap raced over a 7f, see our betting tips and the full race preview below.

IN SUMMARY: This is a decent handicap to end the card and Simon Crisford’s ETIKAAL can come out on top. Having won on his last outing he looks to have enough improvement in him to cope with a 10lb rise with the services of champion jockey Jim Crowley another obvious plus. He can offer some value against Golden Goal who looks too short in the betting on the back of just one run.

1 OUTER SPACE – Arrives here badly out of form having been well-beaten on virtually every start this season. He’s only a pound higher than his last winning mark which came at Chelmsford earlier this year but he’s shown very little since and he’s hard to build a case for in his current state. He will appreciate the return to this track and grade but that’s clutching at straws and others are preferred.

2 CORONATION DAY – Has shown some decent enough form in two starts this season off one pound higher and she’s in with a fair chance today. She’s evidently progressive and continues to get better with more racing and the switch to the All-Weather should pose her no problems today over a trip that has proved ideal. The yard haven’t sent out a winner from their last 10 runners though and she needs to improve to score today.

3 NORTH CREEK – Has been left on a mark of 81 following a decent effort in a better race than this over a mile at Chelmsford last time out. That was a good run over what may have been a shade too far and there are positives about him now dropped in trip to a distance he’s won at three times before. He should threaten the places again today but he may be vulnerable for win purposes.

4 JOEY’S DESTINY – Arrives here on the back of a success, albeit in a weak Class 6 claimer at Wolverhampton. He remains on a mark of 81 now stepped right back up in grade and back into handicap company and that may see him struggle again having failed to score in handicaps since June 2014. The yard are in no sort of form and others are readily preferred today.

5 LAGENDA (non runner) – Kevin Ryan’s runner has only won once from 17 starts but he’s threatened to win better races than this off higher handicap marks and he’s interesting today. He makes just his second start on the All-Weather but he placed on his first attempt on the sand and a 2lb lower mark may give him something to work with. The yard’s runners are finally picking up some form and he could show enough improvement to win this. Respected.

6 ROGUE NUAGE – Finished behind Joey’s Destiny at Wolverhampton earlier this month but he’s entitled to come on for that run having been off the track for over a year. There was money about for him that day and he’s been dropped 3lbs in the weights which does put him back down onto his last winning mark. However, he needs to find drastic improvement to score today and he may be best watched in this.

7 ETIKAAL – Lightly-raced 3yo who is well-treated on these terms. He arrives here on the back of a C&D success back in May and he won with good authority that day to draw clear by 2 1/4 lengths. The handicapper handed him a tough 10lb rise in the weights but he remains on good terms today and the stable are in good form with a 16% strike rate in the past fortnight. He should improve again and is more than entitled to be in the finish.

8 UNTIL MIDNIGHT – Hasn’t been able to replicate some moderate form from earlier this year and he may find himself up against it in this. He was beaten 6 1/2 lengths last time out in first-time blinkers which are retained today and he needs to find some real improvement to beat some of these so the percentage call is to oppose this relatively inconsistent sort.

9 DARK SIDE DREAM – Finished 3 3/4 lengths behind Udontdodou who runs in the 7:00 today over 6 furlongs. He’s back up in trip today which is positive having won a C&D handicap and he’s one pound lower for his latest run. He should go well again today with a claimer on board now he takes a step down in grade to Class 4 company. One to watch in the betting.

10 GOLDEN GOAL – Once-raced Dark Angel colt who has been handed an opening mark of 81. He’s well-treated against his older rivals with his 3yo allowance and there’s plenty to come from him making just his second career start today. He’s obviously not one of the yard’s best runners given he’s racing at Chelmsford but this mark could let him in easily for a yard that are flying of late with a 31% strike rate in the past fortnight. He will be popular in the betting today.

11 AL REEH – Another 3yo who is on good terms with his older rivals. He finished 3 1/4 lengths behind Keyser Soze at Kempton back in May and he looks useful enough although his sole career success came over 6 furlongs in a maiden. The yard have a decent 21% strike rate at present and there is more to come from him although his form does need improvement and there are more attractive propositions in this.

12 FLYING FANTASY – Has gone backwards if anything for this yard, finishing a well-beaten tenth on his last start. He races off the same mark today which is a concern but there was plenty of money about for him on his second start at Leicester so it may be too soon to write him off for a yard that can improve exposed handicappers. He may be best watched in the betting today now kept at a suitable trip.
