8.50pm Kempton Tips & Betting Preview 05/10/2016

A very competitive affair to close off the night at Kempton and JUST ISLA (5/1) will appreciate the drop back to seven furlongs. The six year old mare was just touched off by Zlatan late on over a mile at Bath just over a week ago and Zlatan ran the progressive Multitask close at Brighton on Tuesday to frank the form. The likely danger will come in the shape of Barista who hacked up at Leicester when last seen.

1 BARISTA – Won at Leicester off a three pound higher mark two weeks ago so looks well treated if he can translate that form to the All Weather. Hollie Doyle takes a handy five pounds off but he has never won on this surface so looks worth taking on at the current prices.

2 BUBBLY BAILEY – Still one pound higher in the weights since he last won at Kempton this time in 2014. Winning course form is always a plus but he only beat four horses home combined throughout his last four starts here. Needs to show a huge amount of improvement to get involved.

3 GARTER – Interesting handicap debutant for the Charles Hills stable with Michael Murphy booked to ride. Travelled well for a long way at Ffos Las over the mile when an unfancied 33/1 shot when last seen. It could be telling if the money comes as he could be lined up for this and he has very low mileage.

4 ZABDI – Made no impression on his last two starts here at Kempton, finishing last of ten runners on the 7th of September before finishing eighth of eleven runners here on the 21st. Very hard to fancy on all known form but has a good draw in 6.

5 JUST ISLA – Showed plenty of zest when going down by just a head to Zlatan at Bath, who has since gone on to run very well since. Ran off 53 that day and gets to run off the same mark back on the all weather today. Won over course and distance off a mark of 58 in September of 2015 so looks really well treated. The slight concern is the wide draw in Stall 12 but that is the only concern.

6 MAKHFAR – Last win came on the turf way back in June 2014 at Doncaster. Yet to land any sort of a blow on all three starts at Kempton so is hard to recommend. Tailed off at Yarmouth when last seen and the visor is reached for once again. Hard to fancy.

7 HOME AGAIN – Well beat on all five All Weather starts to date and pretty surprising connections have not sent him back on turf as he had some decent place form on the grass. Starting to get well treated now but has a very poor draw in Stall 13 so is hard to recommend.

8 CAPITAL GEARING – Tailed off at Brighton over ten furlongs on latest start when last of the ten runners. This is only his second start on the All Weather and the booking of Silvestre De Sousa is eye-catching. Drop back in trip will be a help and wouldn’t rule out a big run.

9 FIRE DIAMOND – Non Runner

10 DEFTERA LAD – Remains a maiden after seventeen starts now and blinkers are reached for, for the very first time. Ran a solid race here back in June when 5th over a mile off a mark of 53 and runs off 51 today. If the blinkers have the desired effect, he is one of the dark outsiders.

11 WELSH INLET – Very hit or miss horse but is a course and distance winner and the trainer John Bridger is in decent form at present with two winners from his last thirteen runners. He was second here off a mark of 57 in December of last year and runs off 51 here so the handicapper has given him a chance.

12 GARARNIE ENCORE – This is a horse that seems to really enjoy Kempton and he may be able to take full advantage of the good inside draw in Stall 2. His Kempton form reads 1-3-2-7-1-3-3-3-1-5-9-3-9 so he has some decent figures around here. Each Way chance.

13 JUST FAB – Jim Crowley is a very interesting jockey booking on this Ali Stronge trained filly. She was third in a Leicester seller last time, doing her best work late on. She has some placed All Weather form at Lingfield early in her career so could well have more to offer back on this surface.

14 LUTINE CHARLIE – The best drawn runner in the field with the inside berth in Stall 1. Latest start at Brighton can be forgiven as he was very slowly away. He is a course winner (Won here over a mile) and if he can take advantage of the draw and get away on terms, he has to have a big each way chance.
