7.40pm Chelmsford Tips & Betting Preview 26/09/2017

7.40pm Chelmsford tips for Tuesday’s Class 4 race. A competitive heat, this Class 4 handicap should be a truly run affair. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: Harba didn’t handle the soft ground when going for a four-timer and remains one to keep on side, but preference is for BUMPTIOUS. She has form figures of 1122 since the cheekpieces were fitted and she clearly didn’t handle Epsom on her latest start, hanging down the camber and unable to land a blow. She remains on a workable mark and can make the return to this venue count to beat Ghadaayer, who is likely to bounce back from a poor run in tougher company at York last time out.

1 BINT DANDY – Course and distance winner who has to shoulder a big top weight, running to a fair level of late without threatening to win. She was two lengths behind Harba last month and a turnaround is unlikely as this six-year-old looks vulnerable to improving horses.

2 ROMAN HOLIDAY – Progressive sort for Ed Vaughan who posted a career best two starts ago to win a Class 3 event at Newmarket, shaping although something was amiss on her latest start. She remains with potential for better off this mark and is a strong contender if resuming her progress.

3 SIMPLY ME – Five wins from ten all weather starts, taking a three-runner race at Wolverhampton two starts ago. She ran well off this mark when fifth at Kempton on her latest start and a repeat of that performance would see her with each way claims as she clearly relishes this surface.

4 GHADAAYER – Classic Sir Michael Stoute improver who won three starts ago before she finished fourth in a tough handicap at Glorious Goodwood. She finished last on her latest start at York, but that was even tougher and this is much easier, with likely more to come from her. A bounce back is to be expected and she’s a key player.

5 BUMPTIOUS – Cheekpieces have worked wonders as her form figures read 1122 since fitting, hanging down the camber at Epsom on her latest start. She’ll be much happier back at this venue and remains on a workable mark, looking ready for this step up in distance. She should have too much for these rivals under Sean Levey and can win again.

6 HARBA – Improving massively in handicaps for William Haggas, completing a hat-trick at Yarmouth comfortably before softer ground caught her out at Lingfield when aiming to make it four in a row. She remains of interest off the same mark and a step up in trip should suit, so she’s one to keep a close eye on under Oisin Murphy.

7 SONG MAKER – 280,000gns purchase who’s failed to level up to expectations, gaining her first win in a maiden at Chester at the fifth attempt. A mark of 82 doesn’t look harsh on handicap debut, but further improvement is needed. Connections are in great form though and if she can get to the lead she’ll be hugely dangerous.

8 QUEENSBRYDGE – One win from 11 starts, well held in most of her handicaps thus far for Robyn Brisland. She was fourth at Kempton on her latest start which was better, however she emptied badly close home over the mile and that is worrying here. Looks vulnerable in a race where the pace should be honest and others are preferred.

9 STOSUR – Has been runningly consistently well this year for Gay Kelleway, but she remains 0/10 in 2017 and she looks firmly exposed. She looked to have a great opportunity in a Class 5 event on her latest start, well held on that occasion at Yarmouth. She’s only a pound lower and it’s very easy to look elsewhere.

10 ANDALUSITE – Gained her third victory when winning a Class 6 Handicap at Brighton last week, but she’s now back up in grade and has a tough task under a penalty here. This looks like a competitive race for the class and she’s unlikely to be good enough to win this against some progressive competition.
