7.30pm Epsom Tips & Betting Preview 28/07/2016

Our race preview takes a look at a fillies handicap at Epsom. See our betting tips below to unpick a tricky field runner by runner to find the value selection who can benefit from the first time hood and let up in grade.

IN SUMMARY: One Big Surprise has only won at 6f but chased home a decent horse on penultimate start at this trip. Although she has the tendency to pull quite hard, ALYAA has been running respectably in much tougher company and can benefit from the first-time hood. Broughtons Fancy and First Experience can’t be discounted with much confidence.

1 PENNY DREADFUL – Wasn’t entirely disgraced when upped to 7f latest at Doncaster (7f, Good to Firm) and that was in a higher grade than this. No secret that that race was run at a very steady pace so it’ll be interesting to see how she gets on in a truly run race but suspicion is that it’ll find her out.

2 FIRST EXPERIENCE – Ran respectably over further here latest (8.5f, Good to Soft) and she has it in her to win a race of this nature. She’s not on a mark thats beyond her and went very close in this race 2 years ago. Considered.

3 ONE BIG EXPERIENCE – Both her wins have come at 6f, latest when winning at Lingfield (6f, Good to Firm). Hasn’t been disgraced over 7f though, evidenced when finishing 2nd at Brighton (6f, Good to Firm). Goes up a few grades today but is an interesting runner.

4 ALYAA – Free going sort but when getting down to business has been running respectably in much higher grades than this. Going back into a Class 4 is a manageable challenge for her and the hood may well help her too. If settling today she should be in the thick of things today.

5 CANFORD LILLI – Maiden who may appreciate the switch to handicap today. She hasn’t done herself any sort of justice in her last 2 runs, after starting her career with promise with respectable runs in higher grades. Could well spring a surprise but a lot to prove.

6 BROUGHTONS FANCY – All wins have come in claiming/selling company which tells a story, but has run respectably in handicap company without managing to notch up a win. Has George Wood taking off a good 7lb and mark clearly isn’t beyond her, so will probably run into a place.

7 HIPZ – All her wins have come over shorter distances and you have to go back to August to find her last victory. Is 0-12 at 7f and was defeated in this race last year. Struggling to find many positives.
