7.20pm Wolverhampton Tips & Betting Preview 08/04/2017

This is an interesting Class 5 novice stakes over 5 furlongs, see our betting tips and the full race preview below.

IN SUMMARY: Plenty with chances in this and GET EVEN gets the vote to build on her initial promise. She finished an excellent second on debut in France and she has the benefit of racecourse experience and race fitness so should go close here with Pat Cosgrave on board. Auntie Pam and Faithful Promise also make appeal but the former has a poor draw in stall 10.

1 AQUADABRA – 18,000GNS yearling out of an average mare who was consistently rated in the 50’s. The yard have a decent strike rate at Wolverhampton with a 17% average and they have been in good recent form with 2 winners from their last 10 runners. They have sent out maiden winners so it’ll be interesting to see how this filly fares here. Worth attention in the betting.

2 AUNTIE PAM – 30,000 Euro purchase as a yearling out of a mare who won once from 6 starts over a mile. Her sire was a winner over an extended 5 furlongs on debut and she should have plenty of speed to burn on debut for a yard that do well with newcomers. Stall 10 makes life incredibly difficult so she’s probably best watched on the back of that but she shouldn’t be too far away here.

3 CAMPION – Exceed And Excel filly who is a half-sister to some decent enough sorts over sprint trips. Her stable have been a little in and out of form with their maidens so far this winter but their better types are now starting to surface and the yard have a 21% strike rate in the last fortnight. This looks like an ideal starting point for her and a draw in stall 3 looks perfect so there could be plenty of money for this runner. Closely watched on debut.

4 DIAMOND PURSUIT – 6,500GNS Pastoral Pursuits filly out of an un-raced mare. Yard are slightly out of form at the moment with no winners from their last 8 runners and they have an average strike rate of 11% at Wolverhampton. Andrew Mullen is a positive booking but others have more attractive profiles and he’s one for handicaps.

5 FAITHFUL PROMISE – 40,000GNS purchase as a foal and she was sold on for 48,000GNS as a yearling. She’s by Acclamation out of a decent mare who reached an official rating of 107 at the highest point of her career. Her overall profile suggests she may be better suited to a slightly further trip although her sire did finish second on debut over today’s trip. One of interest for a yard with a 26% strike rate in the last fortnight.

6 FELISA – By a below average sire in Multiplex and out of an average mare who was a winner over 5 furlongs as a 2yo. This yard usually have their 2yos tuned up first time out and the booking of Connor Beasley catches the eye for this yard. Stall 4 is fine and he’s worth close attention in the betting given any market support would be a significant positive. Chances.

7 GET EVEN – Second of 17 in a French maiden for un-raced 2yo’s and that was a really good effort first time out for this stable. She should have learnt a lot from that experience and arrives here race fit which can’t be said about many of her rivals. She’s joint-owned between the trainer and Nick Kent so it’ll be interesting to see how she does here now on synthetics. Pat Cosgrave is a positive booking (20% strike rate).

8 HELLOVAQUEEN – Mare won once in 14 starts which came as a 2yo over 7 furlongs. She ran in the second division of the Brocklesby on Saturday and ran with credit having led for a good period of that race. She’ll do better here with that experience under her belt and this yard are known for sending out useful 2yo’s. This’ll be easier against her own sex and she should do well if she can get a good position early from stall 1.

9 HYPNOTIC DANCER – 38,000GNS 2yo and this yard had a well-backed runner at Doncaster on Saturday and they can get a filly race-ready first time up. She’s been drawn in stall 9 which makes life difficult over 5 furlongs and she may just need this on debut. Best-watched today for this yard who have an 11% strike rate here at Wolverhampton.

10 MRASEEL – £62,000 yearling and she’s related to a couple of winners over sprint trips. She’s got a horrific draw in stall 11 and that’s enough to make her an unattractive proposition in this given she’ll need to sit and suffer in behind if she doesn’t break well. Yard have a 19% strike rate at Wolverhampton but they’ve slipped out of form of late and others make more appeal.

11 YOGI’S GIRL – Second runner in this for David Evans who was purchased for 8,000GNS as a yearling. She’s a March 2015 filly by Harbour Watch who won three times over 6 furlongs in his excellent but short career. The dam was a maiden from 6 starts and other runners make more appeal although this yard should have her relatively ready for this. Another worth a market check.
