7.15pm Chelmsford Tips & Betting Preview 06/10/2017

7.15pm Chelmsford tips for Friday’s Class 4 contest raced over 7f for three-year olds and older. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: This is a wide open handicap and the vote goes to FIELDSMAN. He still seeks his first win for David O’Meara, but he’s been dropped a couple of pounds since his last run and the booking of Silvestre De Sousa is positive with a nice draw in stall 4. Blue On Blue looks short enough in the betting following his latest effort, whilst Miracle Garden should go well if handling this trip as well as the 6f last time out.

1 ICE ROYAL – Has a chance in this based on some of his form earlier this year, but he’s been posted out wide in stall 12 which will make life difficult today. He needs to improve on what he showed last time out and the drop in trip isn’t sure to bring out more improvement.

2 PEARL SPECTRE – Comes out of the widest possible stall today which is a major negative. The drop back in trip is a positive move, however, and this mark is workable but conditions look to have gone against him. Nicola Currie claims a useful 7lbs.

3 EASY TIGER – Races off a near career high mark today, but conditions should suit and this does look a tad easier than his last start at Newmarket. He remains 2lbs higher than his last winning mark, but he’s been handed a nice draw in stall 3. Respected.

4 SIEGE OF BOSTON – Has been brought to life with this trainer, recording three wins since arriving at the yard in February. He goes in search of a hat-trick today, yet he’s been raised 7lbs for his latest success and a rise in grade could end that good form.

5 ATHASSEL – Produced the form of his life earlier this year but he’s gone off the boil slightly since off marks in the 80s. He can be forgiven for a poor run on the turf last time out given he’s a completely different animal on the All-Weather. Best watched here though.

6 GOLD HUNTER – Beat Rogue Nuage by a neck over C&D last time out and he’s been raised 3lbs in the weights as a result. That looks fair, but it does leave him on a tough enough mark in a competitive race and others may provide better value.

7 FIELDSMAN – Still seeks his first win for David O’Meara having arrived in the yard earlier this year. He finished a way behind Gold Hunter and Rogue Nuage last time out but he’s been dropped a couple of pounds and the booking of Silvestre De Sousa is interesting. Needs to do more though.

8 ARCHER’S ARROW – Produced a fine effort over a mile at Kempton last time out off a one pound lower mark and the booking of Lewis Edmunds looks positive today. His three-year-old allowance gives him something in hand with his older rivals and he should continue to improve.

9 ROUGE NUAGE – Has hit a good spell of form having recorded a victory and a place effort from his last two starts. He’s up another 2lbs today, but he remains fairly treated on old form and he’s worth consideration from stall seven.

10 PROCURATOR – Has recorded just one win from 12 starts which came in a Goodwood handicap last summer. He makes his first start on the All-Weather today off a fair mark and the booking of Ryan Moore catches the eye. He steps back up in trip today.

11 MIRACLE GARDEN – Finally ended a long losing run last time out in first-time cheekpieces. He’s been raised 4lbs for that success which could still leave him on a fair mark and he holds a decent chance in this with Richard Kingscote in the saddle again. The step back up in trip to 7f is questionable though.

12 GROUPIE – Has gone completely off the boil since winning a Haydock handicap earlier this summer having failed to beat a rival home in her last two starts. She’s hard to fancy on the back of those two efforts and the market should guide best.

13 BLUE ON BLUE – Lightly raced sort who makes his second start following a gelding operation back in July. He ran with credit off a break last time out when well supported and he should go well here off the same mark from stall two. Plenty to like about him today.

14 TAVENER – Has shown little form of late to suggest he’s up to winning a race of this nature, although the step back up in trip to 7f looks to be the right move. The yard have been fairly quiet of late and he’s best watched in this.

15 RED TOUCH – Has slipped a pound below his last winning mark which came back in March 2016. He’s shown mixed form this season, however he’s been lightly raced since the end of spring and he may be best watched with a view to a winter campaign.

16 FAVOURITE TREAT – Another inconsistent sort that may find life too difficult today. The switch to the All-Weather could be the right move having struggled on the turf at Pontefract, although the ground may have explained the defeat. Best watched for a yard without a winner from their last 22 runners.
