7.05pm Beverley Tips & Betting Preview 18/07/2016

Our race preview takes a look at a very competitive handicap at Beverley with many horses having a claim to fame. Our betting tip singles out a filly in the field who can push the boys to the absolute limit.

IN SUMMARY: If able to transfer his AW form to turf, Abareeq would be a huge danger, but that isn’t assured so preference is for INVERMERE. Fahey’s filly is only 1lb higher for winning at Catterick and is weighted well to be able to repeat that performance. Although the handicapper seems to have his measure, Jacbequick can’t be discounted at a course he runs well at.

1 SPRYT – Now on a career high mark after making all over C&D latest (7.5f, Soft). Having to give a lot of weight around to potential improvers but further improvement from him isn’t discounted.
2 JACBEQUICK – Clearly holds no secrets from the handicapper, but is certainly consistent and in good heart. Ran well latest at Hamilton (9f, Good) and shouldn’t be taken lightly with a good claimer onboard.
3 HULCOT – Has won four times here, the latest of which coming in May (8.5f, Good to Firm). On a disappointing run of late though and is weighted to need a career best under the champion jockey.
4 FAVOURITE TREAT – In good heart of late with a string of decent runs, which first started after winning at Ayr in June (7f, Good to Firm). Soft ground can excuse latest effort and ran well here on previous effort, considered.
5 ABAREEQ – Won off of an 8lb higher AW mark latest (8f, AW) at Kempton and if transferring that to turf where his mark is much lower, he will be very dangerous. However it’s clear to see he likes the All Weather more with previous turf efforts very bad indeed, so can’t be recommended on balance.
6 INVERMERE – Raised only 1lb after winning at Catterick on penultimate start (7f, Good to Firm) and ran well off of this mark when 2nd on soft ground at the same track (7f, Soft). Seems very consistent and is in good heart, so will run well and certainly give the boys something to think about.
7 HUNTLAW – First two handicap runs were disappointing but won by making all latest at Ripon (8f, Good). That was a decent effort but as Franny Norton is on Abareeq it seems he is stable second string. If reproducing an effort like his latest he can run very well but doesn’t seem the most consistent.
8 RELIGHT MY FIRE – A regular here at Beverley who has placed 3 times over C&D in his latest 3 starts here. Clearly likes it here but isn’t easy to win with at all, the last coming over a year ago. That win of course came at Beverley however and its always dangerous to rule out a C&D winner. Considered but needs to show some improvement.
