5.40pm Kempton Tips & Betting Preview 08/11/2017

5.40pm Kempton tips for Wednesday’s race. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: Plenty of unknown quantities and potential improvers to worry about but the formbook points straight to LIGHT RELIEF who ran a blinder to finish second last time out over this course and distance and with the third a long way adrift, the form looks considerably above average.

1 DOTTED SWISS – Rossa Ryan rides for trainer Richard Hannon and claims seven pounds which negates the added seven pounds she was set to carry as the only winner in this field after scoring over six furlongs on her Lingfield debut in May. Off for five months, her only run since was a five and a half-length seventh of thirteen at Chelmsford when pulling too hard and failing to get home over the seventh furlong. Too fresh that day and may do better now, but the trip is still a question mark at present.

2 AMERICAN ENDEAVOUR – Once raced for Newmarket trainer Marco Botti when seventh of twelve over this course and distance last month and only beaten four and a half lengths at the line. Easy to back that day at 25/1 and looks the sort to improve considerably for the experience.

3 APACHE BLAZE – An unraced daughter of Champs Elysees and a half-sister to maiden Illegal Action. Michael Appleby is better known for his handicappers and older horses and unless she is well supported she may well be an also-ran in this field even with Kieran O’Neill in the saddle.

4 BRISCOLA – Last of nine on her only run to date when beaten forty-two lengths over this trip at Newmarket in August when sent off a 12/1 chance. She was as green as grass that day and ran too badly to be true for a John Gosden horse and she seems sure to improve now, though how much is the biggest question of them all.

5 CATOCA – A $120,000 daughter of Lemon Drop Kid she should be at home on the surface here at Kempton on breeding at least and could go well first time out for trainer Ed Walker and jockey Liam Keniry. The stable are ticking over nicely with a 13% strike rate in the last two weeks and it will be interesting to see if she is backed or not on debut.

6 CRAZIE MAISIE – First time out for Brian Barr’s filly who is certainly interestingly bred being by Intikhab out of a Curlin mare. No reason why the surface should be an inconvenience to her on breeding at least and with Oisin Murphy riding well of late she could run a big race and is well worth watching here for future reference.

7 FONDEST – A well-bred daughter of Mayson out of a Selkirk mare and owned by the highly successful Cheveley Park Stud. A debut seventh for James Fanshawe pretty much matched the expectations of a 12/1 shot but her trainer likes to wind them up race on race to bring the best out of them and she seems sure to do better now and as a half-sister to the Listed class Keystroke, better things will be expected of her.

8 LIGHT RELIEF – A likely contender here with the form in the book after a solid length and a quarter second to the odds-on Fille De Reve here over course and distance on only her second start last month. She broke well that day and made most of the running before being caught close home and with three and a half lengths back to the third the form looks solid enough and she should go close this evening.

9 LUSH LIFE – Doesn’t really look bred to be a two-year-old but then again, we are so late in the season that she may well be mature enough. Although ex-jockey turned trainer Jamie Osborne is not well known for winning with his juvenile debutants this one is well worth a market watch for signs of connection confidence.

10 MYSTIQUE – One run so far for the Charlie Hills trained filly who finished fifteenth of sixteen at Newbury over six furlongs when never really getting involved before weakening close home. She was sent off at 33/1 that day and seems sure to improve, but how much is an unknown quantity though she may not be too far away now.

11 OCEAN SPRAY – Sent off an easy to back 40/1 chance on her only run here at Kempton over six furlongs she ran a stinker to finish last of nine, tailed off and beaten thirty-eight lengths at the line. Sure to improve for the experience but impossible to make any case for on what we have seen so far even for the Richard Hannon stable and with jockey Sean Levey in the saddle.

12 RACEHORSE – An excellent name for a daughter of Equiano and a half-sister to the 77 rated Ejayteekay who was also trained by Hughie Morrison to win four of her twenty-five starts and place in seven others at up to one mile three and a half furlongs. She failed to win as a juvenile and Racehorse may do better next season as well.

13 SECRET EYE – First-time cheekpieces for the Paul Cole trained filly who will be ridden by the excellent P J McDonald here after she finished eleventh of thirteen under John Egan on her only other run here over the mile in mid-October. She pulled too hard to have any chance that day but ought to learn to settle with that run under her belt and she could run a big race here at a decent price and possibly challenge for one of the places.

14 SUPERMOSS – Trainer Heather Main has a one in five strike rate in the last two weeks (one winner from just five runners) and a level stakes profit of 18 points but the daughter of Cacique seems unlikely to add to that tally. Her only run to date saw her finish last of eleven over this trip at Chepstow, beaten twenty-two lengths at odds of 100/1. He weakened quickly that day and may well strip fitter here, but others still appeal considerably more.
