5.25pm Chepstow Tips & Betting Preview 13/07/2016

Our race preview takes a look at a hot little handicap at Chepstow in which several horses have a huge claim to winning the race. Check out our betting tips below to find out which horse we believe will have its nose in front when it matters.

IN SUMMARY: Miss Ranger ran with credit with a wide passage all the way round at Pontefract latest and will go close off the same mark. However, BIGGER AND BETTER has won and finished 2nd over this distance on last two turf starts and this hugely imposing colt can notch up another victory off of an attractive mark for Richard Hannon. Panko should be on the premises.

1 OFFICER DRIVEL – Last two efforts on the flat at Newbury have been less than encouraging, latest when 6th over this distance on Good to Soft. Returning to good ground could well prompt some improvement but it is doubtful that alone will be enough.

2 MISS RANGER – Latest 2nd at Pontefract (10f, Good) should not be taken lightly as she had a very wide passage from the rear and still managed to finish off very strongly to take second.  Off of the same mark today so will give this a huge go again but needs everything to fall right if hold up tactics are employed as they have previously.

3 WHO’STHEDADDY – Hasn’t run since a disappointing last at Wolverhampton in February (9.5f, AW). Has gone well fresh in the past and isn’t necessarily badly treated but comes back in a hot little race and will struggle to get on terms here, will most likely fight for a placing at best.

4 LIVING LEADER – Tailed off on previous two starts and form before that wasn’t exactly inspiring. Clearly in no sort of form and on that basis is impossible to recommend.

5 SENZA UNA DONNA – Comes here in form after winning at Leicester latest when travelling well into the race before just holding on (10f, Soft). Is smacked with a 6lb rise for that and although Charlie Bennett negates 5lb’s of that, he will need another career best, that isn’t discounted though.

6 PANKO – Classified winner at Salisbury in May (10f, Good) and then bumped into a progressive horse at Epsom latest (10f, Good). Clearly in very good nick and seemingly is on the up and improvement would land him right into the frame for this, definitely shortlisted.

7 BIGGER AND BETTER – A good win at Bath (10f, Good to Firm) was then followed up by a very near miss (dht) at Nottingham latest (10f, Soft). A very imposing sort who has scope to improve and is in very good hands with Richard Hannon, who also finds for pressure and will battle on gamely if fighting out the finish. Big player.

8 JAZRI – Latest run at Brighton wasn’t a disgrace (10f, Good to Soft) but was still below his best. Seems to be struggling to get back to the best form and you need to go back a while through the form books to find a consistent spell of good form. Can’t be recommended in current vein of form.
