5.25pm Chelmsford Tips & Betting Preview 24/11/2016

A decent Maiden Fillies Race for this time of year with plenty of top yards represented today. Read on for our experts’ thoughts and betting tips.

IN SUMMARY: CERCLE D’Or stands out in this company being a half-sister to the great Golden Horn and given her performance on debut when finishing a close up 5th, she can improve to score here in an interesting Maiden Stakes. Al Mayda & My Lady Marie also rate as dangers given their debut performances but Pure Shores may be the one to chase her home given the hefty price paid for her by connections and she can run the selection close on debut.

1 Al Mayda – First race for the yard at Newcastle 16 days ago and finished a promising 3rd behind good ones from the Ed Walker and William Haggas yard. Sets a fair standard based on that run given she wasn’t beaten far that day and will certainly improve for the run. On the short-list.

2 Angel Of Darkness – Only 9th on debut at Newbury in June, well beaten that day, and improved on second outing to finish 3rd at Kempton in September 66 days ago. Will continue to improve but may find a couple of these too good today.

3 Annie Fior – Once-raced filly who managed a capable 4th on debut at Leicester 31 days ago staying on to see out the race well. Will probably have to settle for a supporting role again here.

4 Bradfield Magic – Last on debut over C&D 19 days ago when very slowly away. Not drawn well in 7 and best to look elsewhere for the winner.

5 Cercle D’or – Interesting on pedigree being a half-sister to Golden Horn and 5th on debut at Kempton when only a couple of lengths off the winner. That was a promising run and this daughter of Acclamation can make her presence felt in this line-up down in trip.

6 Ebqaa – Cape Cross Filly whose dam was a winner up to 1 ½ m and a full sister to 10.5f Mutebah for these connections. Nice pedigree on show but best watched in the market for now.

7 Freediver – Showed some ability on debut when only managing 9th off 11 in a Leicester Maiden over 7f 51 days ago. Bated Breath Filly who should improve with more racing.

8 My Lady Marie – 66/1 on debut for yard 22 days ago at Kempton when ending up a promising 5th of 14. Not far away that day and plenty of improvement to come. Interesting.

9 My Rosie – Last of 14 on debut 22 days ago and didn’t really show much that day. Connections reach for the blinkers for this one and she is dropped in trip today but hard to fancy based on 1st run and maybe one for the further down the line.

10 Oberyn – Led on her debut race at Newcastle 20 days ago when a well backed 5/2 but emptied tamely that day to finish last of 8 and that tempers enthusiasm for this. Easy to ignore for now.

11 Pobbles – Two races so far for this yard and hasn’t shown much in either given she was 25/1 and then 33/1. Can improve but needs to against some of these.

12 Proud Kate – Last on debut at Yarmouth last month and only modest improvement to finish 9th next time out again at Yarmouth over 6f on Gd/Sft. No doubt will win a race or two at some point but unlikely that will be today.

13 Pure Shores – Dubawi Filly who cost a whopping 700,000USD as a yearling. Attractive claims on paper given her dam was a 1 1/4m-1 ½ m winner so good chance if ready to go here.
