5.05pm Carlisle Tips & Betting Preview 07/09/2016

Our race preview takes a look at a staying handicap at Carlisle. See our betting tips below to find a horse who can use his stamina advantage.

IN SUMMARY: Wor Lass has romped her last two races and couldn’t arrive here in better form. Bell Weir drops down in grade on slower ground can only help his cause. However, ANOTHER LINCOLNDAY cashed in on his reduced mark when making all at Pontefract latest and with the Herrington yard in good form, a 4lb rise may not stop him from making it back-to-back victories. If forcing them to go a true gallop, he might just run this field ragged, and pick them off one by one.

1 WOR LASS – Mediocre form before suddenly empathically returning to form with two monstrous victories, first by 6 lengths at Newcastle (16.5f, AW) and then by an enormous 8 lengths at Musselburgh (14f, Good to Firm). Now under a double penalty but has to be strongly respected as even that extra weight may not stop her from putting this field to the sword.

2 BELL WEIR – Won nicely on penultimate start at Ayr (15f, Good to Soft) and then followed up with a respectable effort at Carlisle (14f, Good to Firm). The return to forecasted slower ground is a big plus, as is the drop down in grade. Respected.

3 JAN SMUTS – Is on a fair mark currently but flopped badly on soft ground at Thirsk latest (16f, Soft). The ground is a possible excuse and he does have a good record here, placing twice at this venue last month. Yard isn’t particularly in the winners and maybe he’s best watched for now.

4 LOVE MARMALADE – Was running well in July with a string of decent placed efforts, but let himself down with a poor run at Hamilton latest (12f, Good to Firm). Last win came back in 2014 and it seems that the handicapper is gripping him tightly at the moment, so it may pay to wait for him to come down the weights.

5 ANOTHER LINCOLNDAY – Cashed in on a lowly mark when employing front running tactics to win at Pontefract latest (17f, Good). It’s possible that this trip might be on the short side, but there are no other real front runners in the field and if he employs the same tactics today and creates a real stamina test, he may run this field legless. Only 4lb higher for that win and his yard is in form, so has a real chance of following up.

6 WYNFORD – Decent debut at Newbury last August but never really went on from then, and posted a pretty lackluster effort back at Newbury latest when well held (12f, Good to Firm). Steps up in trip today but judging by his pedigree his stamina isn’t assured, which is worrying against some proven stayers.

myracing Forecast Prices: 6/4 Wor Lass, 4/1 Bell Weir, 9/2 Another Lincolnday, 6/1 Love Marmalade, 9/1 Wynford, 12/1 Jan Smuts
