4.55pm Newton Abbot Tips & Betting Preview 25/07/2016

Our race preview focuses on a handicap chase at Newton Abbot, where several runners go into the race with a lot to prove. See our betting tips below to uncover a horse with potential in abundance who is ready to capitalize of a good mark.

IN SUMMARY: Present Accepted is 2 from 4 in this sphere and landed a big field handicap latest, so has to be respected. However with the addition of the blinkers FREE OF CHARGE has taken a good step forwards and there is probably still even more to come. If Celtic Intrigue would be a big player if Kerry Lee has managed to revive him.

1 VINCITORE – Last race can be ignored after getting stuck in the mud at Uttoxeter latest (26f, Soft). Had been running well before that and this is only his 3rd run back since a years break so has to be respected. If faster ground makes all the difference he will most likely hit the frame with a decent claimer on board.

2 PATSYS CASTLE – Has struggled in both runs since a big lay off, most recently when pulling up at Uttoxeter (22.5f, Soft). Could be involved on previous form but we have to go back 2 years to find that, so he has some big questions to answer.

3 ROMANY RYME – Won at Kelso in September (21.5f, Good to Firm) but has gone off the boil since returning in May, pulling up at Newton Abbot twice, once in both spheres. Has clearly got plenty to prove.

4 CELTIC INTRIGUE – This time last year he completed a hat-trick of wins when winning this race. Been nowhere near as good in 2016 however, not hitting the frame in any of his runs. Would certainly be interesting judged on last years from and if Newton Abbot revives him he will be a threat. That isn’t guaranteed though.

5 RIOR – Very much below form latest when 7th at this course (21.5f, Good to Firm) at the beginning of this month over hurdles. Only ever chase run was when pulling up at Fakenham in December (24f, Good to Soft) and is too much of a risky proposition today.

6 FREE OF CHARGE – The blinkers worked wonders when finishing 2nd at this track latest (26f, Good to Firm) and its pleasing to see that although held, he kept on plugging away. Races off of the same mark today and the services of the champion jockey are always a boost to any horse.

7 PRESENT ACCEPTED – Made it 2 out of 4 over fences when completing a double at Stratford latest (22.5f, Good). Judged on that run he has a huge chance as he clearly is in good heart. Has to prove his stamina over this far but if taking well to the new distance he will be a danger to all.
