IN SUMMARY: With the headgear added and a sensible racing weight, the money is down on the Jamie Osborne trained LA LA LAND who is expected to show an awful lot of improvement on his fourth start and can make the most of the weight he receives from Dream Mount, who looks his biggest danger.

DREAM MOUNT – Improving with every race and won a shade comfortably at Lingfield to take his maiden last time out over slightly shorter in September. Looks the sort to learn more with every race and Adam Kirby rides the track as well as any though only time will tell if an initial handicap rating of 76 is generous or not.

ICONIC SUNSET – The only other last time out winner in this field after the James Tate trained son of Farhh took a Class Four Novice Auction Stakes on the Kempton polytrack last time out by half a length all out. Needs to improve on that and won with nothing left in the tank, though the step up from seven furlongs to a mile may yet bring further improvement. His stable are in good form with a 21% strike rate and he should still run well regardless.

LA LA LAND – Still a maiden after three runs and slowly away over two furlongs further last time out at Goodwood when a one-paced fifth at the line. Shrewd trainer Jamie Osborne adds cheekpieces here for his handicap debut which may well bring about the required improvement and a rating of 73 may well seem laughable if he is sharpened up as much by the headgear as expected.

CALLING RIO – Six races without a win so far for the David Loughnane trained daughter of the top-class Canford Cliffs with a half-length third at Nottingham behind Fayrouz Rose and favourite La Diva two races ago the best of her races so far. She failed to build on that back at Nottingham last time out when beaten eighth lengths in fourth when weakening late on over the mile plus though he may do better on the faster Tapeta surface this evening.

DR RICHARD KIMBLE – The perfect profile for a nursery debut with two unplaced efforts at Ayr and Hamilton followed by a much improved four and three-quarter length third to Wax And Wane over this trip at Carlisle last time out when failing to quicken up on the heavy ground.  Trainer Mark Johnston is more adept than most at placing his horses and is still firing in the winners with elven in the last two weeks from just the fifty-nine runners (19%), and with the excellent P J McDonald in the saddle, a big run is very much on the cards.

RUBY’S GEM – Precious little signs of enough talent to win a race so far after four starts and a very poor twelfth of thirteen last time out on the Lingfield turf, sixteen and a half lengths off the winner and weakening two out over the seven furlongs. No obvious reason why he should do better for an added furlong, and although the booking of David Probert catches the eye other do appeal a lot more today.

STILL GOT IT – Not as far out of this as the betting suggests after a career-best second to Felisa in a seller at Leicester over seven furlongs when trained by Mick Channon. Now with David Loughnane she does at least have the will to get involved in the places and may run in to a place again on a good day here at these weights.
