4.35pm Wincanton tips for Friday’s Class 3 race. The final race of the day at Wincanton is a 2m 5f Handicap Hurdle, with ten runners going to post. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: Although he was beaten a fair way on handicap debut, The Last But One races for top connections and the best is yet to come from him. He’s one to watch for the future but preference is for STONEMADFORSPEED, who won with plenty in hand at Worcester on his latest start, making all in empathic fashion. He still looks well treated under a penalty and should be very tough to beat.

1 SIR DYLAN – Has been in desperate form over the summer for Polly Gundry, falling at Fontwell on his latest start when well in rear. He’s now back onto his last winning mark but others are much better propositions.

2 WOLFTRAP – Hard to win with for Philip Hobbs and he was beaten ten lengths when second at Uttoxeter last month, simply plugging on. A drop back in trip isn’t certain to suit on that evidence and he needs softer ground at this distance.

3 THE LAST BUT ONE – Ran only four times over timber last season for Paul Nicholls, showing his best form when third at Taunton over the 2m 7f distance. He can go well fresh and it’s still very early days, so he’s one to watch for his top connections.

4 VENDREDI TROIS – One win from eighteen hurdling starts paints a bleak picture and he was beaten eight lengths despite finishing third at Worcester on his latest outing. He’s on the same mark here and looks vulnerable.

5 ROYAL BATTALION – Quirky sort for Gary Moore who is well treated on the best of his form but he showed his temperament when downing tools at Fontwell in disappointing fashion when last seen. Hard to make a case for him and he’s risky.

6 STONEMADFORSPEED – Consistent and proving progressive at present, winning at Worcester on his latest start in comfortable fashion. He made all that day and off only five pounds higher he isn’t going to be for catching for in form connections.

7 QUEBEC – Painfully inconsistent, finishing a good third at Cartmel in August before tailing off at Ludlow on his latest start. He’ll appreciate going back up in trip but he’s very tough to catch right and caution is advised.

8 BENBECULA – Has shown mixed form in 2017 for Richard Mitchell, finishing fourth at Exeter on his latest start and beaten a fair way. He’s only two pounds lower here and in a much tougher race, so he’s unlikely to be good enough.

9 TASTE THE WINE – Won a seller at Newton Abbot in July but that form is poor in the context of this race and he’s been well beaten under both codes of late. Makes very limited appeal.

10 MOUNT VESUVIUS – Very consistent sort who is very tough to win with, hitting the frame on nearly all his runs in 2017. He only faded out of things late at Fontwell on his latest start and of two pounds higher he’s an each way contender.
