4.15pm Kempton Tips & Betting Preview 16/08/2016

The feature race on Tuesday’s Kempton card is a Class 3 handicap over 7f. Read our full race preview for our experts’ betting tips.

IN SUMMARY: Loaded still has low mileage and produced a good performance to win a Ffos Las maiden last month but he doesn’t look particularly well treated back in a handicap and the vote goes to the 8yo mare, SARANGOO, who comes here after a couple of very creditable recent turf runs and caused a 33-1 surprise over C&D on her latest AW run in April 2015. Arab Poet reached the frame in a valuable Goodwood handicap in May and won his only previous Polytrack start, but he doesn’t appear to be making progress. Gambit began the season over middle-distance trips but a recent experiment over 6f was encouraging enough to make him of interest over 7f here.

1 Morache Music – Nothing like the force of old but seemingly back in form when runner-up at Epsom (6f, good) last month, his third start for Patrick Chamings; fine over 7f and on Polytrack but disappointed at Windsor a fortnight ago and has questions to answer again now.

2 King Of Naples – Lightly raced 3yo who drew 9l clear to win Redcar maiden (7f, soft) in April; comfortably held in first two handicaps, though (7f/6f; both on soft turf) and needs to prove he can get back near his Redcar form on this surface; others more persuasive.

3 Gambit – Form dipped markedly after his wide-margin maiden win at Wolverhampton (1m4f, AW) in April but he seemed to cope quite well with a significant drop in distance when respectable fifth at Chelmsford (6f, AW) last month, and it’s possible that 7f could end up being his trip.

4 Taqwaa – Delivered on earlier promise when easy winner of small-field Chepstow maiden (1m, soft) last summer but wasn’t seen again until very disappointing handicap debut last month; something must have been amiss that day but he comes here with more to prove than some.

5 Arab Poet – Hasn’t made any significant progress in turf handicaps this season but been reasonably consistent and his fourth in a valuable event at Goodwood (7f, good) in May was a creditable performance; won 6f Lingfield maiden on sole previous AW start and is one to consider now back on Polytrack.

6 Captain Lars – Reached the frame three consecutive times (6f-7f) on softish ground when back on turf in April; disappointed when last in action at end of that month but should be fine back on Polytrack and is on a workable mark if back on song after his break.

7 Loaded – Never really looked dangerous when midfield on last month’s handicap debut at Newbury (1m, good to firm) but got off the mark in Ffos Las maiden (7.3f, good) a few days later; doesn’t look obviously well treated but ran well on only previous Polytrack start and has some scope for progress.

8 Secret Glance – Last month’s defeat in a big field at Ascot shouldn’t be viewed too harshly and he’d been in good form on softish turf beforehand, most notably when making all for a clearcut success at Chepstow (7f); allowed to run off the same mark here, but that’s because he has very uninspiring record on the AW.

9 Sarangoo – Fully exposed at the age of eight but comes here after some good recent turf runs, the latest when close second at Sandown (7f, good); not seen on the AW since April 2015 but was a C&D winner on that occasion and there’s a good chance she’ll make a very bold bid from the front.

myracing Forecast Prices: 100/30 Sarangoo, 4/1 Loaded, 5/1 Arab Poet, 8/1 Gambit, Taqwaa, Captain Lars, 10/1 Morache Music, King Of Naples, 14/1 Secret Glance
