IN SUMMARY: MASTER CARPENTER is sure to go on this ground judged on his impressive effort at York earlier this season in Soft conditions and he can take all the beating off a fair mark. Ayrad could be his main danger, but the ground is a concern for him.

AYRAD – Classy performer who has contested much stronger races than this over the past year. He has to shoulder top weight in bad conditions which is a concern, although he has won on Good to Soft so he’s worth consideration for top connections.

MASTER CARPENTER – Hacked up in a York handicap earlier this season on similar ground to today’s. That bodes well given that he’s only racing off a 3lb higher mark today and he should thrive in these conditions. He’s produced his best form when delivered late.

TWIN STAR – Hasn’t shown a great deal for the Andrew Balding yard having switched stables over the summer. This ground is a slight concern having produced his best form on a fast surface, although the yard do have an 18% strike rate at present. The market should guide best.

ALMOREB – Steps up in trip to 1m 2f for the first time today and he looks to be steadily improving and maturing for the Richard Hannon stable. His third place effort at Sandown last time out ranks as good form and he has winning form on Good to Soft. Respected.

STORM ROCK – Without a win since last year when he won this race on Soft ground off a mark of 87. He’s 2lbs lower today, yet he’s shown virtually no form over the summer which has seen his handicap mark slide from the low 90s. Hollie Doyle rides.
