4.00pm Chepstow Tips & Betting Preview 08/09/2016

Our race preview takes a look at Handicap at Chepstow on Thursday. See our betting tips below to find a horse who can put his experience to good use.

IN SUMMARY: Jabbaar is unexposed compared to these and his latest run can probably be excused so he has to be considered a huge threat. However, GOLDEN WEDDING may be starting to look exposed, but he has run very well recently and going up to a mile will only help his cause. Softer ground is so problem at all and he can also beat Rahmah who could run a good race if building on his Chepstow performance latest.

1 GOLDEN WEDDING – Put in a series of good efforts recently, latest when running out of time to catch the leaders at Goodwood (7f, Good). Returning to 1m is just what the doctor ordered and although he looks exposed compared to these, he can put his experience to good use. The forecasted softer ground will not be an issue and he should run very well indeed.

2 RAHMAN – On a flat run recently until running 2nd here latest over further (10f, Good to Firm). Seems versatile distance wise so the step back to a mile shouldn’t be an issue, but I suspect that he’ll need more to win this, as he has only won once back in April over 5f at Wolverhampton (5f, AW).

3 JABBAAR – Unexposed for powerful connections and ran well to win a Beverley maiden back in June (8.5f, Good). Form of that race has worked out quite well and his latest run can be excused as it was over further when not quite getting the distance at Doncaster (10.5f, Good to Firm). Should be capable of much better judging by his sizeable 400,000gns price tag and should run well, but probably needs a soft lead.

4 AL FAITH – Still a maiden but turned in a decent performance back on the flat after a very unsuccessful run over hurdles at Leicester latest (10f, Good to Soft). Judging by previous runs this will not be enough of a test and may well fall short, so probably best watched until he steps back up in distance.

5 CRYPTIC – Has been running well on the All Weather, latest when a good 2nd at Kempton when not quite managing to gun down the leader after a poor passage (7f, St/Slw AW). Turf form leads a lot to be desired and after a lacklustre run at York in July (9f, Good to Firm), he’s to risky to take on today.

6 NEVER TO BE – Ran respectably on penultimate start at Chester (7.5f, Good to Soft) before flopping badly over C&D latest. On 2014 and 2015 form he could run very well indeed, but he’s lost his way this year and is very risky indeed.

7 BARISTA – Clearly not the force of old and judging by his latest run here over slightly shorter (7f, Good to Soft), he is very much easily opposed under todays conditions.

myracing Forecast Prices: 13/8 Jabbaar, 10/3 Al Faith, 4/1 Golden Wedding, 5/1 Rahmah, 7/1 Cryptic, 16/1 Barista, 16/1 Never To Be
