3.55pm Warwick Tips & Betting Preview 20/09/2016

Our race preview takes a look at a Novices Chase at Warwick on Tuesday. A competitive looking heat, see our betting tips below to find a former useful hurdler who can improve on his debut over fences to run this field ragged.

IN SUMMARY: No Ceiling won narrowly on chase debut and has gone up 9lb for that effort, but has potential to improve. However, WELLS DE LUNE competed in a higher grade race last time out against some useful types and now drops back a grade for today’s run. He should get an easy lead which he will love and can dictate matters out in front with natural progression on his 2nd start over fences.

1 WELLS DE LUNE – Useful front running hurdler when at his best and did well on his chase debut back in April against some useful types in a higher grade at Uttoxeter (1m7f, Soft). 2nd start over fences today with a nice break and he should appreciate this drop in class, he needs an easy lead which he should get and if he can improve his jumping with natural progression he should be up to winning this.

2 SATANIC BEAT – NR

3 A LITTLE MAGIC – Won a novice hurdle last October but then struggled in handicaps when pulling very hard which cost him dear towards the finish. Has the hood refitted on chase debut and needs to settle much better today to feature in this, but couldn’t be in much better hands with Jonjo.

4 GRAMS AND OUNCES – Has been in and out of all codes the past few years, last two chase starts were encouraging, finishing a very good 3rd over C&D back in May which gives him a good chance in this. Running okay recently on the flat so needs to be given a serious amount of respect.

5 JARLATH – Has been running consistently well of late, with 1 win and 3 places in his last 4 starts. Going back to 2m is probably a good idea and he could well have more to come but is beginning to look exposed in this sphere. Has his chance but he has got to have shown improvement from his last few efforts.

6 NO CEILING – Decent handicap hurdler who ran well on chase debut to narrowly defeat Jethro by a length (2m, Good). Considering he was keen and made some mistakes that was a very solid effort and there should definitely be more to come from him, but hes got to jump better against some more experienced rivals who will punish mistakes. Will be involved.

7 BEATU – Has won over hurdles on a similar mark but didn’t do himself much justice on chase debut at Worcester (2m1f, Good). Always in the rear he hit a lot of his fences and was struggling for a long way before giving the last fence a big smack. Has a massive turnaround at the weights with Jarlath who won that race and he has scope to improve, but hes got to improve his jumping to be involved.

8 VEXILLUM – Good effort latest against an inform rival when a staying on 2nd at Fontwell (2m1f, Good to Firm). Mullholland’s yard is in good nick of late and Noel Fehily is a good booking, but he needs to prove hes not high in the weights against some in form rivals.

myracing Forecast Prices: 2/1 No Ceiling, 3/1 Wells De Lune, 4/1 Vexillum, 6/1 A Little Magic, 6/1 Jarlath, 9/1 Beatu, 10/1 Grams And Ounces
