IN SUMMARY: RESOLUTION BAY ran a good race latest to be just narrowly denied and won’t need to be much better to take this. There are a few potentially well handicapped rivals in opposition such as Tanarpino and Quarenta.

1 RESOLUTION BAY – Ran a very nice race on his return to be beaten just a neck and has been put up only three pounds for that. He is now armed with race fitness after that pipe opener, so it would be surprising should he not run another good race on favourable ground.

2 TANARPINO – Contested some useful races last year in particular when fifth in a Grade 3 behind Barney Dwan. He has been absent since February, but definitely has a race in him off a mark in this region and he would not be one to discount for an in-form stable.

3 RUSSIAN SERVICE – Picked up an easy win in a novices’ hurdle last season, however he has struggled in two handicaps since and has now switched yards. The change of scenery will have to bring out a chunk of improvement for him to be involved coming off a 200 day break.

4 MILORD – A fair enough flat performer who has plenty of experience over hurdles and is looking slightly stuck on his current mark. He was beaten 43 lengths on his last start over hurdles and has only been dropped a pound for that; he might just struggle here.

5 QUARENTA  – A consistent performer who ran an excellent race when beaten a neck just over a month ago at Worcester. He has consequently been put up five pounds by the handicapper, but he seems the type to continue to improve and it would be no surprise were he to go close again here with a recent run on his side.

6 AVIATOR – Has not run for a massive 602 days over hurdles, but reappeared on the flat from a long lay-off with a pleasing eighth over two miles. He is handicapped appealingly on his 2015 hurdles form and will get the trip. A risky but interesting betting proposition in an open enough race.

7 SUTTER’S MILL – Relished every yard of a new trip when winning over three miles two and a half furlongs last time out and there is a question mark over whether he wants further than this. He is clearly in good form, however, and only up two pounds for his win so he cannot be ignored.
