3.45pm Yarmouth Tips & Betting Preview 13/06/2017

A fascinating handicap is in prospect here with eleven going to post for this mile race, see our betting tips and the full race preview below.

IN SUMMARY: It hasn’t been easy since her maiden win at Lingfield but MILLIE’S KISS ran well here on debut and a return to the turf could spark some improvement from Philip McBride’s three year old. She wasn’t disgraced on handicap debut at Lingfield and although disappointing when last seen she didn’t look to be suited by how the race was run and better is expected this time with Cameron Noble taking off a valuable 7lb. Hakeem is an obvious danger after a good C&D win on debut and Fujaira Bridge cannot be discounted back now into handicaps.

1 FUJAIRA BRIDGE – 310,000gns purchase by Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum for Roger Varian, with the son of Sea The Stars perhaps a shade disappointing to only break his maiden at the fourth attempt at Ripon on his penultimate start. As a result of that maiden success he was pitched immediately into the Dee Stakes at Chester won by Cliffs Of Moher, simply outclassed in that company after racing keenly early on. Drop into handicaps should be more his level with a mark of 81 not necessarily harsh on handicap debut, with the drop back to the mile another seemingly good move by connections. Conditions will suit and it’d be no surprise if he were to kick on now in calmer waters under Andrea Atzeni.

2 KODIAC KHAN – Three year old for Mark Johnston who is a two time handicap winner, taking the second of those on his penultimate start at Lingfield over this distance, forging clear under pressure in the final furlong. He returned from a four month break when well held at Beverley off a two pound higher mark and more is needed off the same mark, though that would be no surprise with that reappearance out of the way. Conditions are to suit and Joe Fanning takes the ride. So a big run looks to be on the cards for a yard in good form.

3 HERSIGH – Saeed Bin Suroor three year old who hasn’t been improving as expected since a maiden win at Chelmsford in October, finishing fourth on handicap debut at Newmarket two weeks later. She did get off the mark in a nursery at Lingfield in November, but a return to turf in May ended in a well beaten third at Leicester and she seems to be vulnerable once again on this surface under Kevin Stott. More is needed off a mark of 80 and with her previous effort son turf all disappointing, others are preferred.

4 ALKASHAAF – Archie Watson is in good form at present but this three year old has been out of form since a good enough run at Chelmsford in February in a void race, well beaten at Newcastle in March. A three months break did little to help as he was tailed off at Epsom two weeks ago and although this is easier, it’s hard to see him playing a leading role as he’s still unproven on turf for connections. Robert Winston takes the ride but others make far more appeal.

5 MOOLAZIM – Twice raced three year old for Marco Botti who won on debut at Chelmsford in April when running on strongly to snatch the race in the dying strides and he was better than the bare form of his handicap debut fourth at Lingfield fifty-four days ago. He was given plenty to do after being wide throughout, coming home strongly to finish fourth from a very unlikely position. He is up two pounds but this switch to the mile and step up in trip should eek out further improvement, with this son of Tamayuz remaining with huge amounts of potential. Ryan Moore is up first time and he looks likely to go close.

6 EXCEL AGAIN – Another lightly raced three year old who broke his maiden at the second attempt at Newcastle in February, making his handicap debut at Haydock three weeks ago off a mark of 77. He wasn’t disgraced on that handicap debut when third, keeping on well but never quite able to challenge and a pound rise is unlikely to stop him going close again under Martin Harley. Likely contender if progressing and has to be respected.

7 HAKEEM – William Haggas three year old who made his debut at Yarmouth in April, getting the message late on to lead in the final stride in a promising performance. He has scope for further progress in handicaps with a mark of 77 potentially lenient, with his pedigree suggesting much better can be expected in time. Hamdan Al Maktoum’s retained rider Jim Crowley takes the ride for the first time and his claims are obvious, with the market a likely help on his handicap debut.

8 GLENDUN – Has form figures of 333323 since his debut and he looked as though he was finally going to break his maiden on his penultimate start when narrowly denied over seven furlongs here in April. He didn’t however build on that on his latest start when well beaten in third at Chelmsford, staying on far too late and although this step up in trip should suit, he remains vulnerable as a seven race maiden. Possible each way claims under Ryan Tate but a win looks unlikely.

9 SALT WHISTLE BAY – Three year old who has very mixed form in handicaps, running his best race at this trip on his second start, finishing a closing fourth and the decision to up him to the 1m 4f trip back fired on his final maiden start as he didn’t stay the trip. He should be much happier back down to the mile but this is tough on handicap debut and an opening mark of 72 does demand more from him. Tom Queally has hit a poor patch and this doesn’t look likely to be his day.

10 MILLIE’S KISS – Broke her maiden at the fifth attempt when winning on the all weather at Lingfield and she was better than the bare result suggested on handicap debut at the same venue on her penultimate start. She didn’t seem to be suited by how the race was run at Chelmsford on her latest start and better can be expected back on turf at a track where she ran well on debut. Cameron Noble takes off a useful 7lb and all signs point to a big run.

11 JUSTICE FREDERICK – Won his second start when when with the Joseph O’Brien yard but he has been well beaten since in a plethora of races including two handicaps runs. He weakened tamely when last seen at Windsor and it’s not hard to look elsewhere in the circumstances.
