3.40pm Haydock Tips & Betting Preview 08/06/2016

IN SUMMARY: Carnageo was quite impressive in 0-70 company at Ripon a week ago and it will be interesting to see how well he copes with the combination of a 6lb penalty and today’s significant rise in class. It’s quite possible he’ll be up to the task but preference is for GALVANISE (15/2) who doesn’t have a progressive profile but he also ran well in a big-field event last time and can make his presence felt here.

1 Albernathy – Won his maiden at Sandown (7f, good to firm) a year ago; comfortably held when midfield on seasonal/handicap debut at York (7f, good) last month but raced on what appeared to be the slowest part of the track that day; remains unexposed and is bred to by suited by today’s step up in trip.

2 Eqleem – Probably flattered by his proximity when third of four in a 6f Newmarket conditions race last July but the handicapper took the performance at face value; finished ahead of Albernathy when seventh of 20 on last month’s seasonal/handicap debut at York (7f, good) but might still be too high in the weights.

3 Galvanize – Improved to make winning seasonal/handicap debut at Chelmsford (1m, AW) in April; today’s 2lb higher mark looks manageable but he was well beaten when upped to 1m2f back on turf last month and needs to leave that performance behind him.

4 Aleko – Hasn’t really made any progress since his winning debut here (6f, good to soft) just over a year ago but he went very close at Brighton (1m, good to firm) in April and last month’s third in a big field at Ascot was another sound effort; ought to be in the mix again.

5 Sunnua – Lost out only narrowly on nursery debut at Ayr (6f, good) in October and gained compensation when upped to 7f for soft-ground Catterick maiden later that month; returns from 235-day absence here but not out of this if ready to rumble and suited by the step up to 1m.

6 Timeless Art – Beaten at shorts odds in AW maiden on seasonal reappearance in April but, with hood fitted, was very respectable sixth of 17 on last month’s handicap debut at Doncaster (7f, good); 2lb lower now and well worth another crack at 1m; one to consider.

7 Carnageo – Displayed significant jolt of improvement to score readily by 6l at Ripon (1m, good) a week ago, his third handicap; up in class today and has 6lb penalty to shoulder but dangerous to ignore in current mood.

myracing Forecast Prices: 6/4 Albernathy, 9/4 Carnageo, 5/1 Eqleem, 7/1 Aleko, 8/1 Galvanize, 14/1 Timeless Art, 20/1 Sunnua
