3.35pm Salisbury Tips and Betting Preview 04/10/2017

3.35pm Salisbury tips for Wednesday’s Class 4 race. With heavy ground for this six furlong handicap, it’s going to be a war of attrition where the stamina of these speedy horses will be tested. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: Clear Spring has been running well of late and won’t be far away with a repeat performance, but preference is for DANDY FLAME. He won over course and distance in July before completing a double two weeks later, unsuited by the drop back to five furlongs on his latest start. He’s still fairly treated off his current mark and, with Finley Marsh taking off five pounds, he can return to winning ways back up to the six furlong trip.

1 CLEAR SPRING – Not the force of old for John Spearing, but he’s been running well of late, relishing the softer ground at Chepstow when only going down by a neck. He’s on the same mark here and won’t be far away with a similar effort.

2 OUR LORD – Has looked hugely progressive this season for Michael Attwater, bouncing back from a blip to win at Bath comfortably. He’s three pounds higher here and may not be done progressing, with softer ground fine. He’s a leading contender and has to be considered.

3 THE DALEY EXPRESS – Won on softer ground at Goodwood two starts ago readily and he wasn’t disgraced off six pounds higher when fourth at Chepstow. He was three lengths behind Clear Spring though and looks only to have each way claims off this mark.

4 SIR BILLY WRIGHT – Won at Thirsk in July off today’s mark and that was in Class 3 company, running well on some starts since. He drops in grade today and does handle slower going, so he has leading claims at his best under Jim Crowley.

5 DANDY FLAME – Completed a double when taking a Windsor Handicap in July, not suited by a drop back in trip on his latest start. He’s still fairly treated on his current mark and he’s unlikely to be fazed by this softer ground, so he’s the one to beat with Finley Marsh taking off five pounds.

6 FRANCISCO – Dropped back to this distance on his latest start and he ran with credit in softer ground at Goodwood, three lengths behind The Daley Express. He has an each way shout if building on that effort, but that’s not guaranteed.

7 POET’S PRINCESS – Very inconsistent runner for Hughie Morrison, but she’s been racing in higher classes of late, well beaten in Class 2 company when last seen. This is the first time she’s dropped into this class in handicaps and she’s well treated off this mark, so has to be respected.

8 SATCHVILLE FLYER – Won at Chepstow in June, yet he’s been beaten on 18 other occasions this season for David Evans. Matthew Cosham takes off three pounds and he’s now way down in the weights, but he’s very much opposable.

9 AMOOD – Has finished third on both his starts since joining the Archie Watson yard, remaining well treated on his peak form. He goes on softer ground and only went down by a length when last seen, so he should be on the premises under Eddie Greatrex.
