3.20pm Sedgefield Tips & Betting Preview 01/09/2016

Our race preview takes a look at an interesting Novices Chase at Sedgefield. See our betting tips below to find a horse who has been threatening to knock the door down in his last 5 starts, and today could be the day that door comes off its hinges.

IN SUMMARY: Anti Cool is 5lb ahead of the handicapper and in the vein of form he will be very hard to beat., but he will most likely be around even money and perhaps more value can be found in REVERSE THE CHARGE. Jane Walton’s gelding deserves to get his head in front after a string of good efforts over fences, not finishing outside the top 3 in his last 5 starts. He seems versatile in terms of how the race is run and you can almost guarantee a run for your money with his current form, so he is just preferred to Dickin’s charge.

1 BLAKE DEAN – Driven clear to victory at Perth over hurdles in July (16f, Soft) and then wasn’t so good when upped in distance at the same track a day later (20f, Soft). Only ever chase start was back in November at this track when he fell 2 out, well beaten at the time. That was when he was with Sue Smith’s yard and is now with Gordon Elliot which could help, and enters calculations.

2 POETIC LORD – Hasn’t been disgraced on his last two chase starts, latest when never really getting into contention at Stratford in July (17f, Good). Lightly raced over fences and handicapper has given him a chance today, but needs to up his game against some inform horses.

3 ANTI COOL – Had been pulled up twice in his first two tries over fences, but has now found his feet and has won the last twice. The latest when completing the double at Southwell in good style (15.5f, Good), and is now effectively 5lb ahead of the handicapper. Should take all the beating but has been very inconsistent in the past, can he be trusted at short odds?

4 SPREAD BOY – 0-9 over hurdles seemingly slowly regressing. Chase debut today and not really bread for the job so can’t really be recommended, others much more appealing.

5 REVERSE THE CHARGE – Been knocking on the door in all of his last 5 starts, latest when no match for a run away winner at Cartmel in July (17.5f, Good to Soft). He is seemingly tactically versatile and you’re almost guaranteed a run for your money, and Waugh’s 7lb claim could prove very useful. Needs this break to have freshened him up so he can find a bit extra, but thats not out of the question and he will give this a very good go.

6 NEXT NIGHT – Last outing was very poor and hasn’t really been in form since May. Hasn’t been over fences since a poor showing at Cartmel back in April 2015 (21f, Good to Soft). His effort before hand at Newcastle (23.5f, Good to Soft) would put him in the mix in a race like this but he’s too risky to take on today.

7 HOPE FOR GLORY – Well beaten off of very low marks over fences when he attempted this code back in May. On the back of that he is impossible to recommend and it would be a huge shock to see him feature.

myracing Forecast Prices: 10/11 Anti Cool, 10/3 Blake Dean, 4/1 Reverse The Charge, 9/1 Poetic Lord, 14/1 Spread Boy, 25/1 Next Hight, 33/1 Hope For Glory
