2.50pm Nottingham tips for Wednesday’s Class 4 race. A field of ten go to post for this intriguing maiden with several big yards represented. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: You can’t help but be excited by the pedigree of FIRST ELEVEN who is a son of Frankel and a half-brother to both Kingman and Remote. He blew his chance on debut with a very slow start and, with that experience under his belt, he can show what he’s really capable of. Sevenna Star finished ahead of the aforementioned horse when they both debuted last time out, but he’ll struggle to maintain those placings on this occasion.

1 ARTARMON – Cost 50,000gns as a yearling, with his dam’s siblings including a one mile Group 3 winner. Michael Bell’s two-year-olds tend to need the run though and this looks like a strong contest. Could only be given each way claims.

2 DANCETERIA – Showed promise on debut at Goodwood in August before a close third at Ascot last month, only weakening late on. He needs to settle better, but the step up in trip should help and he’s one to consider for the placings.

4 FIRST ELEVEN – Hugely exciting type on paper, a son of Frankel who is half-brother to Kingman and Remote who were both hugely talented horses. His slow break at Sandown blew his chance and he can show what he’s really capable of here. John Gosden’s yard is flying and Ryan Moore is up, so he has to be respected.

5 MERLIN MAGIC – Plenty of promise in three runs so far, with his best effort coming when narrowly denied by Purser at Newbury in August. Front-running didn’t suit on his latest start, however his pedigree suggests that he’ll stay this far and he’s interesting.

6 NELSON RIVER – Well beaten at odds of 33/1 and 50/1 at the seven furlong and mile distances for Clive Cox, whose yard is running well below form at present. This race isn’t going to be much easier and he’s passed over on this occasion.

7 REGAL DIRECTOR – Son of New Approach who’s very well bred and related to some smart types for Simon Crisford. His tendency to be keen meant he could only finish fourth on debut and this is a tougher race. Far more is needed here and he could only be given each way claims.

8 SAM GOLD – Disappointing on debut at Sandown, but he improved with a head second at Newbury when last seen, running on strongly late on. The mile distance is almost certain to suit and, with Andrea Atzeni up top for Roger Varian, he’s the one to beat.

9 SEVENNA STAR – Second runner for John Gosden who looks like the second string, although his debut was full of promise, finishing second and ahead of First Eleven. He is entitled to improve on that but should struggle to hold terms with First Eleven if they break on terms.

10 TWISTED LOGIC – Drifted to 40/1 on debut for Keith Dalgleish and he was beaten over 15 lengths at Haydock, weakening tamely when asked for an effort. In a race full of promising types, he is dismissed with confidence.

Non-Runners

3 ENCRYPTION – Son of High Chaparral for George Scott who showed some promise when beaten four lengths at Newcastle on debut. Far more is needed here on turf debut and, although he’s likely to improve, others are readily preferred.
