IN SUMMARY: GENTLEMAN JON loves this track with four of his six win coming here. He was victorious in this contest last year from two pounds higher, he looks well set to repeat the dose. Bally Longford has gone well when fresh in the past so looks the main danger, he ran a huge race at Cheltenham last December, a repeat of that would put him right there. Adam Du Breteau isn’t the most consistent but he has returned to his last winning mark, he would be dangerous on a going day.

GOODTOKNOW – Dour stayer, four of his five wins came on heavy ground. Has struggled when his mark has gone above 140 in the past so looks best watched on this occasion.

FORGOTTEN GOLD – Pulled up at Chepstow on his return to action, connections reach for first time blinkers for the veteran here. He was poor on his return last season as well, but won at the second time of asking at Leicester off this same mark. Each way chance.

MR MIX – Won here over hurdles on Boxing Day over shorter, that (like his other hurdles win) came on much softer ground, Won over fences at a little short of three miles at Worcester, didn’t look desperate for this test of stamina there.

BALLY LONGFORD – Not won since the 2015 Galway Festival, he ran a huge race over this trip at Cheltenham last December. Not seen since Boxing Day, but he has won when fresh in the past and is a pound below that Cheltenham run now, solid chance.

MOSSPARK – Still six pounds higher than when winning at Sandown in March 2016. Right handed is his direction of choice, all four wins coming this way round, but all on softer ground. Needs a little more to score here.

BOA ISLAND – A perfect 2/2 at this track, both over two and a half miles. Yet to conclusively prove his stamina for this trip but underfoot conditions aren’t a concern for him and the Paul Nicholls yard are in good heart at present.

CAULFIELDS VENTURE – Just a pound higher than when winning at Exeter last season on a sound surface. His last four wins have been at that track so would make a little more appeal there but has gone well fresh in the past.

ADAM DU BRETEAU – Stays well, he has slipped back to his last winning mark. Would ideally need the ground to dry out a little more but has a strong each way chance if the surface comes right for him.

GENTLEMAN JON – Four of his six career wins here, including this race from two pounds higher. Has won on soft ground although he would ideally like it a little better, but still holds a huge chance back at his favourite stomping ground.

OUR SOX – Winless since July 2015, with an 0/9 record over fences. First run since leaving Tony Martin, he can only be watched on this occasion on his first run since May.
