IN SUMMARY: FINGAL’S CAVE was a winner over this course and distance from this same mark in June. He is yet to be out the frame in four starts here, he can extend his excellent record. Boots And Spurs is another who has great form at the track, he won here last time so should give it a good go once more. Royal Connoisseur has won twice over six furlongs here, that is more his trip but he is worth another try at seven furlongs here.

ROARING FORTIES – First time cheekpieces made a huge difference to him when bolting up at Musselburgh two starts back. He failed to cash in under a penalty here when last seen, behind Boots And Spurs. Up another five pounds now, he needs another chunk of improvement.

FINGAL’S CAVE – Winner over this course and distance off 87 in June on similar ground, he has slipped back to that same mark here. That makes it two wins and two placed efforts from four runs over seven furlongs here, holds a strong chance to add to that record.

MUJASAAM – Without a win since August 2105, he has been inconsistent since. Shaped well two runs back from this mark but is not the easiest to trust. Seven furlongs with cut suits him well, but the best of his form has come on straight tracks.

TATLISU – Formerly smart, he has been turned over in claimers of late. Soft ground is fine for him, but six furlongs has always been more of his trip. Others have more pressing claims here.

BOOTS AND SPURS – Won over this course and distance last time on similarly soft ground. He appeared to enjoy the drop to this level having been campaigned in quality handicaps this summer. More than four years since scoring from this high but he does love it here.

WORLDS HIS OYSTER – Adaptable with regards to ground, his best runs have come with more of a test of stamina. Came home strongly over seven last time at Chester on heavy, needs them to go hard in front to bring his stamina into play.

SHOURANOUR – Two wins and a runner-up effort from five runs at this track. Two pounds better off for a length and three-quarters beating from Fingal’s Cave in June, he holds an each way chance if in that form but has been poor of late.

AL KHAN – Veteran has had a poor campaign. This is his trip from a handicap level that is well within his grasp on old form. Wouldn’t want the ground to get too deep, with connections trying a first time visor.

PROUD ARCHI – Only dropped a pound by the handicapper for a distant effort behind Boots And Spurs here last time. His wins have all come on far better ground so easy enough to avoid on this occasion.

HAMMER GUN – Far better horse on synthetics, he was beaten a long way the only time he has encountered soft ground on turf, Best form at a mile so tough to make a case for him under these conditions.

DANDYS DENOUEMENT – Lightly raced, he showed plenty of ability in a pair of good to firm maidens. Last on his only attempt on soft ground, that was his debut so perhaps can be excused. His dam is a half sister to a pair of sand winners, worth watching on synthetics this winter.

MISS SHERIDAN – Finished last the only time she has raced on ground this soft, her wins have all come on a sounder surface. She has struggled since midsummer, looking booked for another difficult day here.

OUR CHARLIE BROWN – A dual winner here at this trip on good to soft ground, he found things more difficult when behind Boots And Spurs last time. May not have been suited held up in a race dominated by prominent racers there but still needs a little more.

ROYAL CONNOISSEUR – Yet to show that this is his trip, six furlongs on soft ground here has been a happy hunting ground for him with a win and second in three runs. Hard to trust fully, but does at least enjoy his racing here so not a forlorn hope.

RED CHARMER – Last three wins have all been on an uphill mile on good to firm ground. Not seen since May when showing little, he would be a surprise winner at this shorter trip on ground softer than ideal.
