2.00pm Southwell Tips & Betting Preview 21/11/2017

2.00pm Southwell tips for Tuesday’s Class 4 race. The fourth race on the card at Southwell on Tuesday is a 2m 7f Novices’ Hurdle, with a field of six going to post. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: Making all and jumping well the entire way round, EQUUS SECRETUS was impressive on hurdling debut over the 2m 3f trip despite looking very green in the closing stages. He now goes up in distance which will suit him massively and with that experience under his belt, he should be very tough to beat under Daryl Jacob. The main danger is Another Stowaway, who finished second to On The Blind Side on his latest start and that form has obviously been given a huge boost.

1 EQUUS SECRETUS – Point to Point winner for Ben Pauling who was impressive on debut at Huntingdon earlier in the month, winning a 2m 3f Novices’ Hurdle. He jumped well and made all despite greeness when asked for an effort and there is far more to come from him. Very hard to see him beaten here.

2 ALLMYOWN – Won a Point to Point back in March and has subsequently joined Philip Kirby, making a disappointing hurdling debut at Hexham where he was pulled up. He is surely capable of better but it’s hard to be confident after this run.

3 ANOTHER STOWAWAY – Left some moderate bumper form well behind when second at Aintree last month, with that form working out brilliantly. He should appreciate this step up in trip for Tom George and with conditions to suit, he’s a leading contender.

4 BEKKENSFIRTH – Poor hurdling form in the context of this race back in 2015 for Dan Skelton before two much better efforts over fences, not seen since December 2015. That 696 day absence is of huge concern and his stamina is a question mark, so he’s best left alone here.

5 PLAYFUL PRINCE – Doesn’t have the pedigree to make a stamina-laden horse and he was sent off 100/1 on debut at Ffos Las for Michael Scudamore, pulled up very early on. This race is even tougher and he shouldn’t be good enough.

6 ROLLERBALL ROCCO – Bought for £15,000 at the Doncaster Sales and makes his debut for Charles Pogson today, with his pedigree giving him something to work with on rules debut. That said, he’s in deep waters here and should struggle unless he’s something out of the ordinary.
