2.00pm Lingfield Tips & Betting Preview 12/11/2016

IN SUMMARY: Grendisar has a fantastic record at Lingfield having won over this trip no fewer than 6 times including 3 in a row earlier in the year culminating in the valuable Easter Classic under Adam Kirby. He should come on for the run and will no doubt be targeted for the same race again next year. With Yorker now a non runner, Grendisar should take all the beating.

1 Berkshire – Won a Listed race at Windsor back in August but finished well behind Western Hymn in a Listed race at Kempton 10 days ago when he found little for pressure. Blinkers are tried again today but has work to do at the weights.

2 Energia Davos – Won a Listed race from Educate on his last start at Newmarket running on well despite being bumped. Can be an awkward ride and will need another career best in this but sold place claims.

3 Educate – Smart gelding who won the John Smith’s Cup at York back in July. Behind Energia Davos in a Listed event at Newmarket on his last start and is 2lb better off here. Should run his race again and shouldn’t be discounted on best form.

4 Grendisar – Wonderful record of 6 wins at this course and trip including signing off last season with 3 in a row culminating in the Easter Classic. Will be aimed at that again and has since changed owners. Finished a close second in this race last year and will come on for the run. Good chance on best form.

5 Master The World – Smart gelding but has poor strike rate with his last win coming back in 2015. Finished 3rd behind Energia Davos on his latest start when badly hampered and other preferred today. Makes AW debut.

6 Maverick Wave – Won over C&D back in 2014 and then followed up after being bought by Godolphin at the beginning of 2015. Highly tried since including his latest, finishing last to the mighty Almanzor in the Champion Stakes at Ascot when used as a pacemaker. 2nd to Grendisar in the Easter Classic back in April and chance on his best form.

7 Metropol – Fairly useful horse and finished 3rd behind Grendisar back in March in the Easter Classic. Finished 8th of 10 in a minor race at Deauville 3 weeks ago and needs a career best to get anywhere near these.

8 Restorer – 3rd behind Western Hymn in a listed event at Kempton 10 days ago and has really struggled in Listed races this year. Likely to struggle again.

9 Yorker – Smart gelding who won 6 times in South Africa when under the tutelage of top trainer Geoff Woodruff. 4 runs already for his new trainer including a 5th of 9 behind Potemkin in the Prix Dollar at Chantilly 42 days ago. Has a tongue strap back on today and this Jet Master gelding can continue his stables good form with his sights now dropped to Listed level. (Non runner)

10 Team Talk – Finished 5th behind Estidhkaar in a Listed race at Newmarket 14 days ago. Still unexposed but well held in that race and has a lot of improvement to find in this race to trouble some of these.

11 Flambeuse – Decent enough mare finishing 9th of 12 in a Listed race here 16 days ago. Down in trip but has struggled upped to this level this year and likely to do so again.
