2.00pm Brighton Tips & Betting Preview 03/09/2017

Seven fillies going to post for the opening contest on Sunday afternoon. Our runner by runner preview and expert tip are below.

IN SUMMARY: MOTHER OF DRAGONS has an awful lot in her favour, primarily that she is back on her favoured fast ground having disappointed the last twice on soft. She has experience on a switchback track already and at a stronger level, she looks well up to breaking her maiden tag. Three Little Birds is another who will appreciate being back on a sounder surface but she has had plenty of chances to get her head in front. Section Onesixsix is a speedily bred type who should be capable of making her mark.

1 SECTION ONESIXSIX – Speedily bred debutante, her dam showed all her best form over five furlongs, as did her sire. She is a March foal so to be making her debut so late with such a forward pedigree is a bit of a concern. Mick Channon has a 16% strike rate with his juveniles on turf this season so with Silvestre De Sousa booked, she is entitled to consideration.

2 EPISCIA – Backed off the boards on her Windsor debut, sent off at 7/2 having been 10/1 when the market opened on track. She travelled well for a long way over the six furlongs there before just flattening out a little close home. That experience should not be lost on her but her breeding suggests that she is going to be a miler, the step down in trip rather than up therefore is a bit of a concern.

3 GHEPARDO – Jekyll and Hyde character so far, a promising debut at Bath behind a solid previous winner in Rock Of Estonia was followed by a dismal effort. She was placed at Wolverhampton on her Tapeta debut, but again failed to back up the impression on her fourth start. If the sequence continues then she should be on for a better run here, with no concerns about quick ground but she is not easy to trust.

4 THREE LITTLE BIRDS – Has already had seven bites of the cherry without getting her head in front. Placed on the first five, she flopped badly the last twice when running on much softer ground. The return to a sounder surface will suit her well, with the form she has shown so far entitled to put her right in the mix. She isn’t really progressing though and will probably find at least one too good for her once more.

5 EQUILIBRIUM – Only beat one home on her debut at Wolverhampton, she has first time blinkers quickly fitted on the back of that. Only a cheap purchase but her dam was a dual winner over this trip on good to firm ground so she should have no issues with the prevailing conditions. Her dam’s half siblings have improved with age, including Black Cherry who was Group placed as a three-year-old. Should prove better suited to handicaps in 2018.

6 MOTHER OF DRAGONS – Another to have had a number of opportunities, she was only beaten seven lengths when midfield in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot. She has not run to her best on soft ground the last twice so will appreciate the return to good to firm ground on which she has shown her best form. She has plenty of speed, experience on a switchback track and brings the strongest form to the table, very much the one to beat.

7 PRETTY RISKY – The second of two debutantes, she comes from a yard who have very few juvenile runners. She is speedily bred, her dam a five furlong winner on firm ground so she should have no issues with the conditions. Her half sister caused a 20/1 shock when winning on debut for this trainer (albeit as a three-year-old) so she shouldn’t be completely dismissed.
