IN SUMMARY: Remarkable finished sixth in the Royal Hunt Cup when last seen and that form means he is set to go close, but REALIZE is too well treated to ignore and arrives here with the winning feeling. He has won both his starts for David Simcock, winning at Bath on his latest start as he pleased despite being keen early on. His mark on the turf is still ten pounds lower than his all weather one, so he should be tough to beat with Ryan Moore taking the ride. At a bigger price, Omran is one to note for the placings.

1 REMARKABLE – Has been set some very tough assignments of late for John Gosden, finishing second in the Balmoral Handicap at Ascot back in October 2016. He was last seen at the same venue in the Royal Hunt Cup, finishing a good sixth and he’s now one pound lower in the handicap. A returning Frankie Dettori takes the ride is a big plus and the good to soft conditions will be of no concern. He looks set to go very close and has to be rated highly in this field.

2 JOHNNY BARNES – Lightly raced in handicaps for John Gosden, usually found competing in pattern company races. His last handicap run was at Doncaster in October, where he was a poor fifteenth and his two runs this season don’t give too much hope that he is going to be up to this. Although this is easier than the French Group 3 he was last seen competing in, he is only three pounds lower than that Doncaster mark and more is needed back in this company. He cannot be ruled out completely, but jockey bookings indicate he is the stable second string and likely only has each way claims.

3 EARLY MORNING – Inconsistent sort for Harry Dunlop who was a good second at Haydock on seasonal debut in handicap company, though he failed to back that up when second from last in the Royal Hunt Cup when last seen. He is only two pounds lower here and a drop back in trip doesn’t look certain to suit, with this being the first time he’s dropped back from the mile since his second career start. The softer ground is another concern as all his best efforts have come on good to firm, so others look far more persuasive.

4 STRAIGHT RIGHT – Ex-French runner for Andrew Balding who made his British debut in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot when finishing seventh, whereafter he transferred from the Christope Ferland yard to Andrew Balding. He makes his handicap debut today off a mark of 106 which doesn’t see him particularly well treated, though it is hard to know what to expect as he’s still lightly raced. Conditions will suit and Oisin Murphy takes the ride, so he’s one to consider for the placings, especially if the money comes for him.

5 RUSUMAAT – Made all comfortably in a handicap at Haydock three starts ago and he was far from disgraced on his latest start at Sandown two weeks ago. He finished seventh in that tough race after things didn’t perhaps go his way and he remains on the same mark for Mark Johnston. Good to soft conditions will be fine as he’s won on them in the past and a mark of 105 is unlikely to stop him from going close under Jim Crowley.

6 REALIZE – Two wins from two starts for the David Simcock yard and although this seven year old is on an all time high mark on the turf, he is still well treated on his all weather form. He is rated ten pounds higher on the artificial surfaces and his latest easy victory at Bath suggests he isn’t done winning on the turf just yet. Ryan Moore takes the ride which sparks further interest and with conditions to suit, he looks very tough to beat.

7 OMRAN – Proved very progressive earlier this season for Marco Botti, winning an all weather handicap at Newcastle impressively under hands and heels. He has been less good the last twice, well beaten in the Britannia Stakes when last seen, but it’s hard to forget his earlier efforts. Tongue-tie goes on for the first time and if that sparks further improvement, he looks a contender for the placings under Luke Morris.

8 MAJESTE – Finished a promising fourth in the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster to cap off his two year old season, but he’s been poor on both his starts this season and needs to find improvement from somewhere. He was well beaten on return in the European Free Handicap at Newmarket before finishing a poor last in Listed company at Chester back in May. He has been gelded since but that does little tempt in this competitive field and others make more appeal.

9 EXECUTIVE FORCE – Ran his best race when fourth in a Listed race at Maisons-Laffitte back in May, but he has failed to match that in two, one mile handicaps since for William Haggas. He could only manage eighth in the Mile Handicap at Newmarket seven days ago and is only down three pounds in a tougher affair here. Likely to miss out on the placings under Paul Hanagan.
