.50pm Lingfield Tips & Betting Preview 05/10/2017

.50pm Lingfield tips for Thursday’s Class 4 contest raced over 1m for two-year-olds. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: This is a competitive nursery and LEVANTE PLAYER gets the verdict. He displayed some solid form before being upped in grade last time out and the return to this company and a mark of 71 could see him home in front. Bajan Gold and Motabassim could be his main contenders with progression to come.

FLEETING FREEDOM – Faces a tricky task off top weight in this open nursery handicap, although her effort in a Class 3 Newmarket handicap does give her a chance in this. Her last start was slightly disappointing and others make more appeal.

COLLATERAL – James Tate’s yard are without a winner from their last 17 runners and his colt seeks to break his maiden at the seventh attempt. He went close in a similar race to this at Kempton last time out so he has to enter calculations, but he’s high enough in the weights.

MOTABASSIM – Looks to be going the right way and his last start was his best effort to date. This trip looks as if it suits perfectly and he will surely come on again for his latest run so he holds a strong chance in this, albeit off a 3lb higher mark.

SIMPLY BREATHLESS – Clive Cox’s filly bumped into a useful sort last time out at Goodwood and she ranks as one of the leading contenders in this based on her form earlier this summer. This trip may stretch her slightly and stall 11 will make life difficult.

VICEROY MAC – Looked to need this step up in trip when finishing third of seven at Epsom last time out and he should improve on that run. He’s another with a poor draw having been posted in stall 12 and the percentage call is to oppose him on the back of that.

LEVANTE PLAYER – Tom Dascombe and Richard Kingscote are a dangerous combination in two-year-old nurseries, although their Kodiac gelding needs to improve on what he’s shown to date. He found life difficult when tried in a much stronger race than this, yet a mark of 71 could be lenient here. Interesting.

ASHINGTON – Canford Cliffs colt making his handicap debut today following some improving runs. His latest effort is still some way off what will be required today, but the booking of Jamie Spencer is positive and he could go well from stall 7. Interesting.

RAINBOW JAZZ – Hasn’t shown much progression since going close on his second racecourse start and more is needed here. A pound drop in the weights is likely to suffice and he’ll be better in weaker races than this.

TROGON – Drops in trip following a modest effort over 1m 2f at Kempton last time out. He remains on a mark of 69 which looks fair and he’s certainly worth another go at a mile having gone well over the trip at Brighton in August.

BAJAN GOLD – Stuart Williams’s Lope De Vega colt makes his handicap debut today following some modest efforts in some fair maidens. He’s shown a solid level of ability and a mark of 68 should be fine now stepped up in trip. Interesting.

STORMY SAND – Comfortably beaten over six furlongs at this track back in early September and he’s stepped right up in trip today. That should suit based on breeding, as will the switch to the All-Weather, and the booking of Andrea Atzeni is an obvious positive.

GALACTIC – Best performance came in a weak handicap last time out, but that performance was still someway short of what will be required here. He has yet to be gelded which may be coming soon and he can only be watched in this.
