1.50pm Leicester tips for Monday’s race. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: At these weights there is little doubt that the value lies with the Harry Fry trained GENERAL GINGER (Each Way) who looked as if he would improve for the race on his return from a year and a half off and will be more the finished article this afternoon. The stable had a winner at Cheltenham yesterday which bodes well for his chances and he ought to prove difficult to keep out of the frame at the very least.

1 GENERAL GINGER – Two wins and five places from just the nine starts for Harry Fry’s seven-year-old who ran a lot better than expected on his return from eighteen months off when a solid seventh to On Demand at Wincanton. He was seen blowing after that race and will strip race-fit now and if he is back to his best, then this handicap mark is well within his capabilities with the possibility of even more to come, makiing him the one they all have to beat.

2 CAPITOUL – The money was down for the Dr Newland trained five-year-old at Lingfield last time out and looked as if it his supporters may have been paid out before he fell two out when just having taken up the running. It was a heavy looking fall and it will be interesting to see if he is fully recovered less than a week later, mentally as well as physically. Jockey Sean Bowen is in great form and it will be interesting to see if his followers look to recoup their losses.

3 DELFACE – Last seen making every yard of the running at Ffos Las in a novice hurdle in May and given a rating of 119 for his handicap debut on only his second run for David Pipe after leaving Elizabeth Doyle’s before his last winning run. His handicap rating does not look particularly generous with the 100 rated Captain George less than four lengths behind him in Wales, but he will no doubt improve and wears first-time cheekpieces this afternoon and is clearly a serious contender.

4 QUIDS IN – Ran well enough in fourth on his return to action to suggest he is in for a decent season, and with Ross Turner claiming seven pounds, he could be well weighted here. One win from sixteen starts, nine on the flat and seven over hurdles fails to inspire and he does not look to have the potential to go on from here as much as some of his less exposed rivals.

5 POKORA DU LYS – Seven races from September 2014 to now have failed to yield a win so far and his sixteen and a half-length eighth of thirteen at Haydock last December is not good enough for to suggest he can get involved here. Off since and with a ten-month lay-off to overcome, even the good form of the Dan Skelton yard seems unlikely to be enough to see him come home in front this afternoon.

6 HIGH EXPECTATIONS – Sent over from Ireland by Gordon Elliott who has his runners in great form with a 26% strike rate in the last two weeks, and the son of High Rock will make a bold bid to improve those statistics. Last time out at Cheltenham in what looks a far better contest he seemed to be going as well as any before unseating Lorcan Murtagh three out and if Richard Johnson doesn’t make the same mistake then the combination look to have a solid chance.

7 PRUSSIAN EAGLE – Two wins from seventeen starts over hurdles, the latest one in June at Ffos Las off a rating five pounds lower than he has to carry today. He ran well enough off the same rating when third at Worcester in September but flopped badly on the flat when a twenty-length last on heavy ground at Ffos Las and he has a bit to prove at present.

8 SNEAKING BUDGE – Stuart Edmunds’ gelding looked worth following when winning a juvenile hurdle by ten lengths in January but was then pulled up at Uttoxeter when failing to see out the two and a half miles in November 2016 and he has not been seen since. This looks a tough ask after a long time off but he does have the potential to win more races.

9 TODAY PLEASE – Better known as a chaser recently with four of his last five starts over the larger obstacles but a return to hurdles here follows a thirty-three length seventh at Wetherby over this sort of trip. He did win over hurdles at Doncaster in March off of six pounds lower so is not as out of this as the odds suggest but still has a bit to find regardless.
