Racecourse Tracks

Windsor Racecourse is located in the beautiful countryside of Berkshire and stands on the banks of the River Thames. Flat racing takes place here mainly throughout the summer and they also host their popular Monday evening meetings. Windsor racecourse is known for being only one of two figure of eight tracks in the UK. It’s also the scene for Richard Hughes’s finest hour where he won an incredible seven out of eight races.

Windsor Betting Tips

Windsor has a figure of eight circuit that measures just over 1 mile 2 furlongs. The track is predominantly flat, however, a balanced, nimble horse has an advantage over longer trips due to the sharp bends. Races of 1 mile 3 furlongs and above see turns both left- and right-handed. However, races of 1 mile and less have only sharp, right hand turns. Due to racing mainly in the summer, the going is often good. But, when it is testing ground jockeys tend to favour the far side, especially at shorter trips.

Races of 5 furlongs and 6 furlongs at Windsor are uncomplicated for horses as they are run on an almost straight track. However, races of 1 mile and over require jockeys to negotiate the final turn (known as “carnage corner”) which can cause an array of problems. This is because some will want to slow and others would prefer to kick on. This is an important factor to bear in mind when selecting our Windsor tips.

Windsor Draw Bias

As there appears to be a golden highway up the far rail when the ground is soft, high numbers generally have an advantage at Windsor. That said, the bias seems to be minimal; there doesn’t seem to be any advantage for horses drawn on either side over 5 furlongs.

Windsor Betting Trends

Trainer Saeed bin Suroor has a brilliant strike rate at Windsor races, with 12 winners and eight places from his 31 runners in the last three years. Richard Hannon is a regular here and in the same period has run no less than 258 horses, picking up a staggering £147,099 in prizes.

Ryan Moore has a standout win percentage of 32.39% at Windsor. However, since 2013 the man to follow has been Andrea Atzeni. His record of 28 winners and 33 places from 97 rides sits second only to Ryan Moore, but he yields a much larger profit of +£25.40 to £1 stakes.
