Perth Betting Tips

Perth Racecourse is situated in Scone Palace Parklands and is the most northerly track in the United Kingdom. The feature race of the year is the Highlands National which measures a monstrous 3 miles 7 furlongs in distance. Racing takes place here throughout the summer months and the April Festival meeting is a particularly popular attraction. Other big races include the Future Champions Novices’ Hurdle, the Old Mout Cider Handicap Chase and the Perth Gold Cup which is held in June.

Perth Betting Tips

Perth racecourse is a right-handed circuit measuring 10 furlongs and there are eight fences to each lap of the track. The bends are sweeping and quite sharp, but the course is very flat and fair overall. There is a water jump directly in front of the stands. However, it is passed out on the run in which means there’s a very long run to the line. Horses can tend to get racing a long way from home so runners from the rear often finish to great effect. Despite being a flat course, it will test a horses stamina.

Perth Betting Trends

Over fences, amazingly it is the Irish raider Gordon Elliott who has had the most success here during the past three seasons, with 12 winners from his last 57 runners. However, it is David Pipe who catches the eye. He has had 6 winners from his past 10 runners when he ventures north, equalling a staggering 60% win strike rate.

Richard Johnson is the leading jockey with 13 winners from his last 61 rides over fences. However, Tom Scudamore has the best strike rate, operating at a 39% return. This is obviously due to the fact that he rides for David Pipe.

Over hurdles, Gordon Elliott has been extremely dominant, operating at a 29% win strike rate. Again, David Pipe catches the eye over the smaller obstacles, with a stunning 50% strike rate; 6 winners from his last 12 runners. The consensus when choosing tips for Perth is to back David Pipe when he rides here.

Richard Johnson is also extremely dominant over hurdles, with 29 wins from his last 91 rides. The next best is Sam Twiston Davies who has only had nine winners in the same period.
