Killarney Betting Tips

Killarney Racecourse is situated in the picturesque town of Killarney in County Kerry, Ireland. This course is one of the most beautiful, with forests, mountains and lakes surrounding the area. Both National Hunt and flat racing take place here.

Killarney Betting Tips

Jumps Course

Killarney racecourse is a left-handed oval track measuring 10 furlongs in distance. There are no races at a mile or less at Killarney. It is a very sharp track, however it is quite flat and fair overall. Although a low draw is always a help for a good early position, the straights are very long, meaning that horses have plenty of time to adjust.

Flat Course

The flat course at the Killarney races is a left-handed track measuring 9 furlongs and it is oval in shape. It is an extremely sharp course and the bend after the winning post can be very tricky to navigate. Generally, horses that prefer to race prominently have a big advantage as they save ground at every turn.

Killarney Draw Bias

As previously mentioned, there is no flat race with a distance shorter than a mile at Killarney. Over the mile course, the statistics are fairly level. A horse can win from any stall, however it is not ideal to be drawn 14 or higher. The draw is almost irrelevant for races of a mile or further.

Killarney Betting Trends

On the flat, Aidan O’Brien is the top trainer here over the past three seasons, with 12 winners from 59 runners. Ger Lyons and John Oxx are also well worth following as they are both operating at 35% win strike rates over the same period. Killarney is a happy hunting ground for Declan McDonagh who is the top jockey at the track and someone to bear in mind when selecting your Killarney betting tips.

Over fences, Henry De Bromhead and Willie Mullins are the most productive trainers whilst over the smaller obstacles, the latter holds a clear advantage over the other trainers. Ruby Walsh is the top jumps jockey at Killarney, which is no surprise due to the firepower Willie Mullins has at his disposal.
