Nigel Twiston-Davies – My Cheltenham Runners Wednesday 15th March 2017

Nigel Twiston-Davies Weekly Column

We may have our Cheltenham tips online already but if there is one other man it pays to listen to, it’s Nigel Twiston-Davies. He has had plenty of Cheltenham Festival winners and we had our usual phone call with him to get the exclusive low down on how he’s feeling about his biggest chances.

Just the one runner for the Wednesday, but with Nigel on his way to visit son Willie in hospital we wished him a speedy recovery and will give a more detailed report on the runners so far this week in tomorrow’s article – family always comes first which seems fair enough, though we will update as and when Nigel gets a free minute!

Nigel’s Charity Bet

As always, we’ve given Nigel a £50 charity bet to place on a horse of his choice – we’ll be giving him one every day this week – after all, it is Cheltenham! He can choose to go win or Each Way, but at today’s price, each-way was always going to be the call!

Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle – 2.50pm
Robinshill 80/1 Each Way

“Just the one runner today but I am licking my wounds from yesterday and still think Ballyandy would have gone mighty close to winning had he not been shuffled back losing all momentum at a crucial stage of the contest, but that’s racing I suppose. My heart goes out to his owners and to my son Sam who had a face like thunder when walking back in to the weighing room after the race. On to Robinshill and I can’t really suggest he is any kind of banker in a race this competitive though I am pleased he got in to the line up (it was touch and go at one stage with so many declarations) and am looking forward to the race. He has won three races for me already this season at Wetherby, Huntingdon, and Ffos Las but they were all over two miles and I’m not really sure how he will cope with the two miles five this afternoon, though on breeding he may well get home in these conditions. Fingers crossed he comes back safely, though with Willie in hospital I need to find a new jockey for this afternoon. ”

If Robinshill wins, we’ll donate the winnings to the Injured Jockeys Fund!

Nigel Twiston-Davies will be back each and every week with his thoughts exclusively for myracing.com as well as every day over the major meetings (including Cheltenham)! To see what our tipsters are backing in all today’s races, check out our Cheltenham tips or our horse racing tips!
