Nigel Twiston-Davies – My Runners 6th May 2017

Nigel Twiston-Davies Weekly Column

An unlucky fourth with the charity bet for Nigel last week in a photo finish after three miles five furlongs in one of the races of the season at Sandown but a fairly quiet weekend for the yard with just the two runners at Uttoxeter on Saturday, and no National Hunt racing at all on Sunday.

Nigel’s Charity Bet

As always, we’ve given Nigel a £50 charity bet to place on a horse of his choice – and this weekend the money will be on…..

3.55pm Uttoxeter – Belmount to win

“He ran really well last time out at Cheltenham when a two and a half length second to Upswing at Cheltenham over a quarter of a mile further, and while he is in this sort of form I have to be hopeful he can put in a huge run, and hopefully a winning one. He has been put up three pounds for that but gets in here off bottom weight, and as he has no issues and acts well on this quicker ground, he deserves to be the charity bet this week.”

If Belmount wins, we’ll donate the winnings to the Injured Jockeys Fund!

Saturday’s Other Runner:

Ballypoint 5.05pm Uttoxeter

“Although he did win a maiden hurdle at Ffos Las on heavy going in March 2016 I have struggled to find him the right contest since, though this is only his fourth race over fences and maybe it’s about time the penny dropped. I can’t pretend I am confident today but i will find a race for him one day that he can win.”
