Nigel Twiston-Davies – My Runners 5th and 6th November 2016

A very busy and under pressure Nigel took time out from the barrage of phone calls to talk to us as always on Friday morning, and it looks like the weekend could be more than a little interesting. Runners are thinner on the ground than he would like thanks to the lack of rain and thus the absence of any decent racing ground, but he still has a few this weekend he was happy to talk about.

Saturday’s Runners

Goodbye Dancer 2.05pm Aintree

“This may not be as good a race as we would normally expect thanks to the going and I admit, my horse could certainly do with it being a lot softer than this. He will hopefully handle it (I wouldn’t run him on it otherwise) and with a lot of his main rivals returning from racing over fences, he could be that bit slicker than some over his hurdles and I’m hoping he can run a big race and pick up some prize money.”

Splash Of Ginge 3.10pm Aintree

“The race has cut up considerably and Splash Of Ginge ran really well on his return when fourth over this trip at Chepstow last month. He is working and schooling really well at home and I am pretty confident we can expect a big run from him this afternoon especially with the handicapper kindly dropping him three pounds and then Ryan’s three pound claim.”

Sunday’s Runners

Southport 12.50pm Ffos Las

“Won his maiden hurdle for us last time out at Market Rasen by a convincing seven lengths and everything has gone according to plan since at home so no excuses. He jumps well and this looks a pretty weak, race and I like him a lot so I’m expecting a huge run from him again this afternoon.”

Gulshanigans 1.55pm Ffos Las

“Unseated at the first hurdle on his hurdling bow at Cheltenham at odd of 50/1 but I assure you he is a lot better than that and I quite like the horse. I can’t say he is going to win with some decent looking rivals up against him, but he should hopefully run a decent enough race and is one I am looking forward to winning races with.”

Hollow Blue Sky 2.30pm Ffos Las

“As fit as I can get him at home ahead of his first run since April and I would like to think he will go well enough, but it is a tricky looking race and not one I can be confident over.”

Verygoodverygood 4.15pm Ffos Las

“Only dropped a pound by the handicapper after finishing third to Gingili at Exeter and although he disappointed me that day, he has just as good a chance this afternoon, and ought to go well again.”
