Nigel Twiston-Davies – My Runners 2nd September

Nigel Twiston-Davies Weekly Column

Well we didn’t have any runners from the yard last week but Nigel’s Charity bet did romp home by five lengths at odds of 7/4 the week before so good news all round! This week he only has the one runner (and on the flat at that) as he awaits better jumping ground to organise his stable stars, but he seems to think he has a decent chance, so here is what he told us when we spoke on Friday morning.

Nigel’s Charity Bet

As always, we’ve given Nigel a £50 charity bet to place on a horse of his choice – and this week it will be on……

Arthur McBride 5.05pm Chester Saturday

“The eight-year-old ran really well at Goodwood over two and a half miles plus in early August after being eased close home once his chance had gone. The drop back in trip seems sure to see him at his best, and I need to get him higher up in the handicap to have a chance of him getting in to the Cesarwitch at Newmarket in mid-October which is the long term plan. Liam Keniry rides him for the first time here and I can’t foresee any problems with the track, trip, or going, and although it does look a competitive race I have to be hopeful of a big and preferably winning run, so that everything falls in to place.”

If Arthur McBride wins, we’ll donate the winnings to the Injured Jockeys Fund!
