All systems go this week with a long list of runners for the Twiston-Davies yard and plenty of interest for us all, so straight down to business!

Saturday’s Runners

Little Jon 1.30pm Newbury 

“He won the two and a half mile chase on the Friday here last season and seems to like it around here which is a positive and he runs off a pound less today as well. He has improved at home for his comeback run at Chepstow and I am very hopeful of a big run from him this afternoon.”

Robinshill 2.05pm Newbury

“He has won his last two races at Wetherby and Huntingdon over two miles and has been put up by the handicapper but I am hoping the step up in trip will bring about further improvement, and am really looking forward to this race and hopeful of a huge run. ”

Blaklion 3.10pm Newbury

“I see him as a bit of a forgotten horse at present but he has the right profile for this race coming out of his novice season, and I think he is pretty well handicapped as well. He ran well enough at Wetherby in the Charlie Hall Chase on ground that was too fast for him and with enough cut expected today I am confident of a very big race this afternoon.”

Winged Crusader 1.10pm Newcastle

“It may be his first run of the season but he goes well fresh and the softer the going the better his chances. If we get a bit more rain and it turns in to a good slog then his chances improve dramatically.”

Calett Mad 2.20pm Newcastle

“His first run for me having arrived from France but I like him a lot and he jumps really well at home. Soft going will be ideal and I am expecting big things of the son of Axxos, possibly even a winning debut for me, fingers crossed.”

Bristol De Mai 3.30pm Newcastle

“He is a very decent horse and can be forgiven his return at Carlisle when the ground was too fast and the trip too short to see him at his best. The longer trip and softer going are all very much in his favour and I am very hopeful of a success this afternoon.”

Colin’s Brother 12.00pm Bangor

“He lost his way a bit over fences last season for whatever reason but seems to be back to something like his best at home now, and I am hoping for a big run this afternoon from the six-year-old gelding.”

I Am Colin 1.05pm Bangor

“A half-brother to Colin’s Brother but physically a bigger horse, this is his first run since the end of March and he should run well enough in the circumstances.”

Ballypoint 2.50pm Bangor

“I cant say he didn’t disappoint me at Ffos Las when a long way last but he is certainly a lot better than that and I do expect a much improved effort this afternoon.”

Sunday’s Runners

One Forty Seven 2.05pm Leicester

“One of the unluckiest horses in training and deserves a break. Badly hampered on his hurdling debut last month and forcing Ryan Hatch out of the saddle for an Unseated at Market Rasen, he won his next start at  Uttoxeter when dead heating only to be disqualified and placed second, and was pulled up last time out at Haydock when his saddle slipped! On the bright side he is pretty much a winner without a penalty and I like him a lot, he just needs a change of luck to win here.”

Kilronan High 1.55pm Carlisle

“She won nicely enough last time out at Hereford over slightly further but has a bit to find with David Pipe’s horse today, but I am hopeful she can up her game again this afternoon.”
