Celtic v Fenerbahce

Celtic haven’t been at their best in the Scottish Premiership so far and only managed to draw 0-0 with Hearts at the weekend but they drew 2-2 with Ajax and have scored 23 in just 9 games in the league so far, 8 more than anyone else. They have home soil and Fenerbahce games have seen both teams scoring in 4 of their last 5 games including a 3-1 defeat to Molde.

Braga v Groningen

Groningen may not be a big name in Europe but they were where Luis Suarez made his name, scoring 13 goals in 2006/2007 after being bought for €800,000. They face an in form Braga team having lost 3-0 to Marseille at home in the first game of the group, and come here following a 2-0 defeat to Ajax where they struggled going forward. However, they’re normally much better than that, play an attacking formation (4-3-3) and I could see this one being a high scoring game.

Rubin Kazan v Bordeaux

Rubin have been in shocking form so far this season in the league, struggling in just 12th after 10 games, but they face a leaky Bordeaux defense who have conceded 13 goals in 8 games in Ligue 1 and who have seen both teams score in all of their last 5 games. Bordeaux recovered a 3-1 victory at the weekend and Rubin Kazan seem to perform best when playing better teams so both teams to score looks a good price here.

Legia Warsaw v Napoli

Napoli come into this game full of confidence having beaten Juventus 2-1 on Saturday, while Warsaw are struggling (by their standards) in the league with just 16 points from the first 10 games but they have scored 4 goals in two of their last 3 games. They lost 1-0 to Midtjylland in their first group game while Napoli beat Club Brugge 5-0. I’m expecting Napoli to win this one by a far margin having beaten Juventus and Lazio recently but Legia Warsaw are a good team going forward and should be able to grab at least one.

Villarreal v Viktoria Plzen

Somehow Villarreal are top of La Liga after 6 games, a point ahead of Barcelona and two points ahead of Real Madrid. They lost their first competitive game since May in the first group game 2-1, while here they go up against Viktoria Plzen who have won 8 games in a row and are clearly in high confidence. They qualified for the Champions League, unlike Villarreal, but were knocked out by Maccabi Tel Aviv before comprehensively beating Vojvodina who had beaten Sampdoria in the previous round. With Viktoria Plzen having scored 15 goals in 8 in the league and Villarreal 12 in 6, this could be a high scoring game which Villarreal will really want to win.

Liverpool v FC Sion

Liverpool have been a good BTTS bet recently, with all of their last 5 games seeing both teams scoring, and they showed their defensive frailties when conceding twice to Aston Villa and once to Carlisle. Sion have had a stop start season so far, losing their last 2 games, but they beat Rubin Kazan 2-1 in their first game in the group and they’ve averaged better than a goal a game in the league despite not scoring the last twice and this is a good price.

Molde v Ajax

Ajax have been in good form at the start of the season, scoring for fun, and drew 2-2 with Celtic in their group game, but face a Molde team with a very good home record here. Molde sit 7th in the league but are 4th in terms of golds scored, with 46 in 25 games, while Ajax have scored 18 in 7.
